Notice: You MUST PM me the final hands of every match. I need the verification that each match was played. If you pull out of the tournament, please PM or post on here to let me know. Thanks and good luck all!

Tournament Dates are as follows:
All monies must be shipped to Muzzard (look below for stars sn) by Saturday, March 14th. I will also post matchups at this time.
Tournament will start on Sunday March 15th at 12am EST. All matchups must be played out by Wednesday at 12am EST(Tuesday night).
Rules and whatnot:
Number of Entrants: 16
(Lets just keep this one a 16 man to kick it off. If it goes pretty smoothly, and I think it will, we can try a 32 next, then 64, etc, etc.)
Buy in: $5
Brackets: Selected at random in the same fashion as the other tournament. (Players are given a # corresponding to the # they signed up to the tourney, and they will be plugged into random.org's generator. Example: I would be #1 next person would be #2, etc.)
Tournament Play:
-Play money HU 1/2 tables on Stars.
-200bb deep, no reload/auto-top feature obviously.
-Best of three matches. First person to lose their stack twice is knocked out.
-3 days to play your 3 matches. (Example: Scheduled to start Sunday you have until Tuesday at midnight (wednesday morning) to complete. Wednesday we get the results, reseed and you have from Thursday til Saturday to play next match, etc.)
Payouts: 50/30/20, 3rd place will be decided by the semifinal losers playing a best of 3 match. Winner obviously gets 3rd.
To sign up just put I'm in and I'll keep track of who is signed up on this original post.

Pretty much all we have to do is confirm who is definitely playing on the list below, if you want to play in this don't hesitate to sign up still because someone may not want to play, and decide to drop out. We have already had two people drop out, so don't hesitate to apply, theres a decent chance you can still get a spot.
We also have to decide on a date, but that can be negotiated later. Will have to be starting on or after the 15th, though.

I am in. I'd say a $5 buy-in is a good number. I'm not sure if we'd get 32 entrants, and obv. 16 would facilitate a quicker beginning to the tournament. I agree that 1 week per match is too long. I think we could go Sun.-Tues. for a match, collect results and reseed/rematch up on Wed., go again on Thurs.- Sat, etc. With this format it would take ~2 weeks with 16 players and this could become a more frequent event so ppl wouldn't feel left out if they couldn't get in this time.
Prize split something like 55-30-15 percent or something? (obv 3/4 place players would play to settle who gets 3rd prize money)
I like the idea of the play money tables as well.
So 16 man, 2 week, 5$ imo.

how about making it so that in a 16 man $5 tourney
round 1 winners get 2$ for the win
round 2 winners get 5$ for the win
round 3 winners get 10$ for the win
final winner gets 24$ for the win
so 1st gets $41
2nd gets $17
3/4 gets $7
5-8 gets 2$

So I thought I'd make some suggestions . This way at every stage of the tournament you are directly playing for prize money for winning the particular heads up match. With the 50/30/20 split everyone who cashs has to win 3 heads up matches.You might just as well have a 5$ buyin MTT and top 3 split the prize money.

Nah, I mean, its not a TERRIBLE idea but I'm playing a tournament to get 1st and I would feel cheated playing only to get $25 knowing that guys that got knocked out in the 2nd round are still getting moniez that should MINE  .
With a 50/30/20 payout (assuming $5 BI) it would go $40/$24/$16 which is a lot more fair. Everyone gets a decent sum for making it as far as they did. We could even make it 40/25/15 to make it even lol.
And iopq, this is supposed to be a NOOB HU tournament lol, most of us can't afford $25+ BI's imo, although I do agree that $1 is too low. I like the sound of a $5 BI but $10 wouldn't be unreasonable.
Also, I read on the other HU tournament thread that they were going to play 1/2 HU with play money on Pokerstars, so I naturally assumed that there were HU tables lol. My mistake. New system imo.

Ok, sil693 I just tried to open pokerstars and find the HU tables on for play money on stars, but failed epically apparently. Directions imo?

Would be easier if everyone played on the same site. I'm not 100% that all players on the list have Stars, but I'm pretty sure that most of em do.
I think stars 200bb HU best out of 3 is goot. 50/30/20 is fine by me. Just got to agree on the buy-in now. I think $5 or $10 is goot, pref $10 but I understand some of the participants only haz small rolls.

Ok since it seems like all 3 of us (Muzz, me and sil lol) want to have it all on pokerstars i think thats how it should be set up. It just makes it easier, especially if someone that only has a FT account and a person that only has a pokerstars account get paired.
Pokerstars only it is. I'll make proper edits.
Ill set up a poll for $5 or $10 BI if I can edit this post that way...

The NOOB bit is why I suggested it in that at least the noobs have a 50% chance of at least breaking even. Looking down the list of entrants there are some well established members taking part with decent bankrolls. My money would be on IOPQ winning it since he has a lot of HU experience or at least I seem to remember reading that . THe noobs taking on the better players will likely just be burning their buyin and if they have to get through 4 or 5 of the established players in order to cash its set up to pillage their small starting bankrolls.

Keith, this isn't JUST for guys grinding 2nl/5nl lol. "Noob" refers to a wide range of players and the noob aspect of this tournament is for those who want to play a HU tournament, but DON'T want to play for the $100 BI that the other one had. So basically anyone can join, including griffey or badgers or someone who has a huge roll and is playing 1knl regularly. It just doesn't matter.
And if $5 is going to and I quote, "pillage their roll" I won't allow them to take place, I will take an alternate off the list to play in their spot because they are obviously not rolled for this tournament.

The setup sounds pretty good so far, thank you to those who are setting this up.
There are some highly respected players currently, but nowhere near as intimidating as the $100HU list.

so what if i'm not in this tournament it doesn't mean that I wouldnt be in any future tournaments , therefore I feel I have an equal input into ideas for it.
With regards to rolls my main concern is for xpaand who according to his sig has 30$ in his BR .When it was 1$-5$ buyin being suggested and noobs then he had every right to be in it when it was at the lower end of that range. Now the experienced players are in it and suggesting a higher buyin I don't think that its fair on him.he's registered an interest and he'll probably say that its fine as a learning experience but its not exactly promoting bankroll management and was the reason for my comment about pillageing their rolls. edit: checked ArcadianRocks banner and that says a 27$ bankroll

It will suck if xpaand isn't able to participate, but I'm not going to reformat an entire tournament for one player. This thread has only been open for a couple hours (if that) and more people will likely sign up as alternates. If I (or anyone else) feels that someone's roll is inadequate (as xpaands is) he will be taken off the list.
Its not like there wont' be another one ever. Besides, I think that this tournament will end up being a $5 BI one. In the future we can probably up the ante a little bit if some more players would like to, but for now I (and probly the majority of the others that will be participating) will want to keep it small just to see how it plays out. If its a $5 BI I have no problem allowing xpaand to play if he feels like risking that much of his roll on this, but if its $10 I will cut him. That simple imo.

I'll go and edit. The only thing we SORT of have to decide on now is the payout structure, but I think we can just have 50/30/20 and call it good.

Well, Outlaw is the one who really got the ball rolling, I just decided to make all the lists and whatnot since he didn't seem to forthcoming about it, but thanks .
I figured I don't make my presence known on this site very often (I hang around my own blog too much  ) and thought it would be fun to get out there and mix it up with some of you guys, and I've been wanting to play some HU lately anyways.
Also, pretty much the final version of the rules and stuff are posted now. Just gotta make sure that everyone on the list is gonna be willing to play.

Um, once you get your opponent for that rounds bracket you guys can really play whenever you want within the 3 days you are alloted per round.
Although, for proof, I think the deciding (final) hands should be posted or PMed to me just so I don't hear that "o we never played, he never beat me," etc.
Its not a perfect system, but it should suffice. Once we set a date, and everyone's money has been shipped and confirmed by muzz ill set up the brackets then post on here to let everyone know then we kick it off.

So I understand Muzzard is the "escrow." I was never familiar with this term but I'm assuming that just means he holds the money and pays out properly. That sounds about fine. I guess I will be shipping the money when the dates are set. Is that OK?
