What are the odds straight up of having two overcards against a lower pair pre-flop? It feels to me like 50/50, but I know it has to be a lot worse.

For example, KQ against JJ, no other players in the hand.

It varise slightly pending if they're suited or not and whether any the KQ are the same suit as the jacks, but I think it is

KQ : JJ

 yea, depending on the pocket pair and the over cards, the pocket pair is gonna have between a 50 and a 55% chance of winning.

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
 The lower pair is a slight favorite.
The exact % depends on whether the cards are suited or not and their chance to make a straight
so KQ vs 22 is better then A9 that cannot make a straight and KQ vs 22 is also better the AK vs 22 because of added straight possibilities
For the same reason KQ vs 22 is better then KQ vs JJ since JJ limits the str8 options of the KQ.
