Quick and easy rule of thumb is count outs and multiply by 2 for percentage to hit an out on next card and multiply by four for percentage to hit by the river (from the flop).

E.g. You hold and flop is :Qs:

You have 9 outs for the flush (I'm disregarding the fact that those outs might not be good at the moment). So you have about an 18% shot to hit a spade on the turn (about 1 in 5). And about a 36% shot to hit a spade by the river (about 1 in 3).
