had AA today and raised preflop, 1 caller. flop is AQ9 with 2 spades. i bet 1/2 pot he calls. turn is a blank, i bet 1/2 pot he calls. turn is a 9...but also a spade -- giving me the nut house and exposing a flush on the board.

heres where it got interesting. instead of betting normally, i just pushed, gambling that he had a flush and would call my huge overbet.

thoughts?

Looks like a suicide push doesnt it to save your ace high hand
i'd push too if i think hes calling down with the draw.
Why not?
he might be fishy enough to call.

Stack and bet sizes? How much is in the pot and how much does the shorter stack have left behind? How big are the blinds? Buy-in? Does he look like a donk?

As written, this is kind of like posting:

Someone limps, I raise with 2 cards. Flop is 3 cards, I bet and he calls. Turn is a blank, I check, he bets and I push.

Ok, maybe not that bad... anyway, the better I got at this game the more I learned to pay attention to details.

you guys suck...i cant find the HH so i gotta retell it:

i have about $150 at 100nl he has $100 or so.

i raise to 3 preflop. he calls.
i bet 4 on the flop. he calls.
i bet 7 on the turn. he calls.

so stack sizes are uber deep basically. no reads.

the play on that hand really depends on what you are trying to do. I push in that situation every time, but I hate to showdown.

if you want him to think of you as really agressive, you try to drag pots without showdowns, this means putting lots of money in the middle making it hard for him to call.

if you want him to think of you as super tight, you only showdown monsters made with premium hands, eg, aces full made by holding pocket aces.

it all depends on what you want out of the future, if you want more monsters paid off, then you wanna come off as agressive, but if you want them to respect your bluffs, then you want to showdown your monster. it all depends on the table image you are hoping to establish.

If the stacks are that deep i say push too. The board isn't paired so it's really hard to put you on the FH. With the small stack basically still 9x bigger than the pot, you only need someone to call the push 1/8th as often as you would need them to call a pot sized bet...If you have a read that says he has the frush, i say go for it. It's more fun gettign paid off $80 one time than getting paid $8 ten times too

theres two nines on there.. second hitting at the river.. and ofcourse you couldnt put someone on a FH if the board isnt paired.. it isnt possible.

As for the hand, the push seems ok to me.. at the river, when the flush has just hit. He's probably not calling without a flush, or atleast not any decent bet. so the push may look bluffy and both the flush and something weaker may call.
villain goes AI
