When I play, I seem to definitely notice that I have good days and bad strictly in terms of cards I am dealt. Does it make any sense, or is it just a misperception on my part? Is there ever a case where you have virtually no chance to win on a given day?
I had been playing well and making money for the past week, until two days ago. Then that day I waited forever to catch playable cards, and when I did I would catch big hands and be beaten by even bigger hands.
For example, pocket queens all in and running into pocket kings... not so bad a beat I know, but lost half my stack on that hand. Later, in two consecutive hands on two tables, I hit a straight and a nut flush and was beaten both times by full houses. These are just some examples.
I just had the unshakable feeling that cards would not work for me on that given day. My bankroll management includes the idea that I will quit for the day (or at least a couple hours) when I lose 5% of my bankroll. But I went against my better judgment that day, assuming that soon I would have to catch some cards. I ended up losing about 25% of my roll before I accepted defeat for the day. I really don't think I was on tilt, because I know that on tilt feeling, and in retrospect can't think of any big hands where I got reckless.
The good news is that yesterday was a much better day... cards coming my way, bets working out, fishy players calling my big raises with garbage or trying to bluff me when I have a hand, etc. I made back over half of what I lost the day before.
So my question: Does it make any sense to say the cards are just not going to come on a given day, and it's best just to hang it up? Statistically this seems silly, but some days really make you wonder. (My problem is that I'm not a good enough player to make money with bad cards. )

She and I are actually engaged nowadays, even though I didn't really want to. To be honest, I think she's a real bitch.
How am I supposed to get rid of her?

I understand where you are coming from High Card. Whereas I definitely don't feel that poker is a game of luck, it is undeniably a part of the game. There are times when I can play for several hours and catch all the cards in the world. Just the other night I could have had a win streak of seven hands in a row had I not folded the bad ones before the flop. My best night so far at $10 NL Ring is $55 in about 3 hours. On the other hand, I have had nights exactly as you described. I went all in with pocket Aces two weeks ago against an opponent that had pocket Kings and he ended up having 4 Kings by the river. My entire session seemed to go that way.
I am not superstitious, but when I am having a session like you described I try changing tables as much as 3 or 4 times. If that does not work then I call it a day.
Luck? Who knows, but it does help save the BR when the cards aren't there.

MAn she must be quite the slut cuz she just spent a week nagging by my side.
Btw: Make sure you dont get bad play confused with bad luck (this is a general statement).

I have been monopolising the affections of her younger, better looking sister, Miss Felicity Upwards-Variance (or the New Hampshire Upward-Variances) - perhaps I should let you fellows have a crack.
