No hate, but if you want to work on your short handed game for late stages of tournaments, you are better off playing SNG's.

@daviddem - I will be sure to do that. I have been running a long streak of placing 3rd in MTT's starting with around 50 players. Didn't seem to matter if I started as short stack or chip leader going into the finaltable... I always got 3rd.

Play turbo SNG's then, maybe even 6max turbo SNG's. And get yourself a torrential copy of SNG wizard to practice your allin/fold game.

Yeah, that's right, people like me are playing at 10nl. F*ck me I screwed this hand up bad. Didn't even think about a set of 3's here. At least you guys can all profit from me, that's something right? ha.

Hey, don't worry about it. Think about this situation in future hands, but it's not terrible (depending on stats or reads). Obv, the part you need to think about is the part where villian raises your bet. That's a big clue that you're behind. A BIG CLUE.

Yeah I'm solid now, the hand just tilted me slightly since it was the very last hand I was dealt at the table before I was getting ready to be done. I've just noticed more people c/r the flop with lesser holdings at 10nl (moved up recently) and so I generalized that to this guy, who I think in fact was too tight for that to be the case. My point in posting though was that obviously people are bad enough to stack off with a pair of kings in that spot, which is what this threads about right?

But oddly enough a similar situation happened to me only 20 hands or so later at a different table. This time though, villain is a little too loose pre-flop and pours on the aggression post.

I find that sb a tough place. How should he have played it? I'm thinking he's trying to push everyone off of a flush draw, doing so with nothing, but isnt that the kind of aggression a lot of people consider good play?

I've found myself with top pair top kicker, flop shows two cards to a flush or a straight looking likely, try to bet enough to make the draw unprofitable and run into a set.

This guy is a huge aggro fish. He was playing 2 tournies + 1 cash table. He was deep but lost a big chunk of it a few hands before this. This was the 2nd hand in a row that he had open shoved. Everyone folded that time. I had a good read on him.

i appreciate how crazy that 23 junk is, but why are you min-raising preflop with AA.. the guy is short stacked so probably looking to get all in light anyway, and your just asking people to set mine and stack you by not pushing harder

well i meant the set mining thing as a generalization not so much for the specific hand.. I dont really see how it being hu makes a difference if the villain had had a full stack.. obviously its better if its multiway but are you saying its wrong to set mine against a villain that min-reraises me if its hu?

also curious, are you saying that a min raise is better here because he's short or just that its not a bad thing?

He's saying it's not bad here because he's short stacked.

I'm pretty sure Harley isn't minraising if the guy has 100bb

It was totally stack dependent tbh. I wanted him to set mine and or chase what ever I wanted it in. A shove would have no doubt convinced him he was crushed as the min raise convinced him I was very weak.

First hand of the session, my hud hadn't even came up yet. I didn't give villain credit for fd because I was I guess giving him more credit preflop that he wouldn't call w/sc's or Axs oop? I put him on a range of something like TT+, AJ+ although I really discount AA or KK.

I run like 26/22, 10% 3b. I raise flops a bit more than just with 2pr+ 8outs+, but I'm actually not that crazy when the money gets big usually.

I find my preflop stats alone are enough to make many bad lowstakes regs spazz out on me in some entertaining ways.

Keep in mind I'm playing 6m. My stats aren't even that laggy for 6m -- just a little more than average which is probably around 21/18 or something like that. 3betting 10% helps get those numbers up a bunch.

Being it was the first hand I just thought I'd test the waters and possibly steal the pot. Kinda fishy but I was just putting a toe in the water and planning on folding if he re-raised me.
