Since my present bank roll is small, I cannot win at hold'em tables consistently enough to make money.
So I've been playing mostly SNG mini-tournaments ($5 or $10). I've noticed that I do much better at the limited Hold'em tournaments (much better) than at the PL or NL tournaments.

Any ideas why this would be? I'm thinking I play somewhat conservatively at the begining, and so limited tourneys are to my benefit until about 5 players are left, and that my fundamentals are OK so that w/out a big loss, over time I should be competitive. While in NL/PL, too many people stay with sh*t, and one bad hand can wipe you out.

tnx

maybe you are a better limit player than a non limit player.

Also, you only have to make 1 mistake in a NL tourney to be out, you get more lives in a limit tourney.
Poker is all about the long long long long long long long term . . .

I just played my first single table limit HE and won it. So I'm feeling much better about myself. (See my other thread where I incessantly whine and bitch)

I definitely see the attraction. With little limits, even if you get sucked in it's not for much; No, you can't torpedo people when you catch them by surprise, but patience seems to be rewarded better. Eventually (at least this time) the good cards come.

When it gets down to the last 3 players (in the money) I play any-ace, any-pair, any-suited. Does that sound about right? I also go into bet-or-fold mode. What do you guys think?

When i played some limit SNG's i found when it got down to the last 2 or 3 it was a proper crap shoot where you'd cap most rounds with rubbish cards as the risk wasn't very high, in No Limit the final 2 is much more interesting as you can really hurt them on a good hand and you're not as likely to go all in with utter crap unless you know they're going to fold.
