contrary to what you might think, that statement is contrary to current poker theory and therefore requires a proof if you want any respect at all.

STATS NOW!!!

Let me guess though? You just had a rough session where someone called to the river with a straight/flush draw, and "sucked out" on you? And now the pro is all frustrated, and decides to register to an online forum and inform the masses to not "chase" draws, because it's stooopid. Amirite, or amirite?

Yesterday I was playing in a tournie full of pros and one of them told me I was a bad player for doing just this.

It was toward the beginning of the tournie so blinds were low like 10/20 I got a K and Q of diamonds so called to see the flop, the flop was all smaller cards so less than 10, two of them were diamonds, so I think ok didn't really get anything but my hand isn't any worse, so I called again.

The turn was also a small card but not the diamond my K and Q are still bigger than anything on the board so instead of folding I called because the pot was still small and even loosing what I had put in till now wouldn't have hurt me much.

The river was a small diamond so I got my flush, somebody got a pair on the river and bet against me so I made a bit of money on this hand.

All in all I would do the same again if the opportunity came my way, at least as long as it's early game and I get in cheap.

The tournie was really above my level but I won the ticket to it in a free role and couldn't cash it in, so I played. Didn't do bad, but this was a seriously tight bunch of people, after four hours of playing at 2 am my time I basically gave up and went to bed. But it didn't cost me anything so was an interesting experience.

I PM'd him for the stats...

I guess he could be talking about chasing draws with improper odds in which case he'd be right but he didnt clarify that...

You'd think a pro would fully iterate that in a poker topic...not just throw out some random thought....
But he's off to Vegas for the WSOP I guess...
I confess in quicksand

He PM'ed me stats

He chased one hand one time, got stacked because he missed chasing 4 outs. AI on the flop with a SPR of 22

all draws are obviously -ev

turns out he's an EXTREMELY quick learner.

He's talking specifically about when you have a flush+OESD at the same time, which we should all be snap folding IMO, way too risky.
