Hello people,
I'm sander from amsterdam, netherlands.
found your website and registered.
I'm pretty new to the pokerworld but i've played some now and then.. never really realised how big and fun it is!
I recently joined the pokerstars and flopturnriver to guide me into
the wonderous world of poker.
i've been playing at small/micro stakes tourneys as i want to specialize in the tourney segment..
I've ended in the top10 and top50 in some small money tourneys so i have a bit of feel for it already i observe, although i notice i still make stupid mistakes which will result in losing my stack.
I want to learn poker in all it's ways, the human mind doesn't work logic well most of the times.. online poker does not show bodylanguage..
I think flopturnriver will help me in becoming a profitable poker player.. but more importantly.. an excellent skilled poker player!
I know not every poker player wins, there are ups and downs but simply develop a solid play style which will evolve into your own kinda play.
Anyway.. some last notes;
Can you people give me some important pointers about poker which will help every (semi)beginner.
Things to do, not to do etc..
I'm happy to be part of this website and learn as much as i can about poker and the people.
Let's PLAY!

Welcome, we have a few members from your neck of the woods (area in the world). Good luck. There are a few threads in this sub-forum that might help you. If you look higher up in the forum you will see "stickies" that contain some of the best post/articles from our members through out the years.

it sounds like you prefer tournaments to cash play. If that is correct (and I would recommend one or the other, not both for a new player) then I would suggest reading the stickies in the SNG and/or multi-table forums.
Those posts will give you a great foundation to build off of. Once you have done that the next two steps I would recommend are as follows:
Read EVERY post in the forum of your choice. Some of the concepts may not make sense at this point, but over time you will start understanding them better.
Make notes of hands you play that you felt led to difficult decisions. Post those hands in the forum for advice.
Good Luck with the pokahz and welcome to FTR.

Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Welcome! The very first thing you should learn about is bankroll management. You will find links to information about that in the stickies.
