player 1's flush
AT76 2
beats player 2's flush
AT 652

you just match them up in order number for number until one of them has a bigger number.
so they both have an ace, tie
they both have a ten, tie
player 1 has a seven, player 2 dosn't
so, player 1 wins

i thought that because the highest flush card was in the community it was considered a tie and decided by the kicker?!?

no if both hands share the high card, you just work your way down the flush.

As far as the kicker goes, you only get five cards to make a hand. if player two wants to use the ten rather than the five, they don't get to make a flush.
you can look at it one of two ways:
1. there is no kicker for a flush.
2. player 1's seven is the kicker.

the only time it is a tie is when both players have the EXACT SAME hand...ie in the following situation

hand 1: JT
hand 2: AT
board: AKQJ2

given neither has a flush, they both have the exact same hand. it doesn't matter that hand 2 has a bigger pair (aces bigger than jacks) because using 5 cards they both make the same nut straight TJQKA

I put my vote in for hand 2. I always like to pull for the underdog.
