Hello,
I have been reading FTR for a few weeks now and thought it was about time to register. I've been really enjoying the content and the advice and its definietly helped me become a better player tho I'm still pretty fishy
I'm a 29 year old bankruptcy attorney from Long Beach who spends too much time on here when I should be working...
Last night I played in a $5+.5 SnG at Pokerroom and had the wildest thing happen. I don't know how to get the hand history from there or I'd get and post (maybe one of you knows, I couldn't figure it out).. but basically early in the tourny I picked up pocket Kings in LP, bet pretty heavy and got one caller, the flop came KKJ which blew me away as it was my first time having quads online period. Well I know they say not to slowplay hands in SnG but it was a very tight table still so I checked to the river in hopes someone would make a hand, sure enough I got a big bet from the remaining player, I came back all-in, and after a long pause he called... river had made his straight, so I got paid big.
That was cool enough, but not 15 mins later I got pocket 2s in LP. I limped in hoping to hit a set or get out, when the flop came 225! I don't know what the odds are of flopping quads twice in one game but they must be pretty remote...well I slow played this as well and once again got an all in at the river and busted the guy out!
I don't know if thats my good luck for a lifetime, but needless to say I finished ITM... went heads-up against the chip leader with him at 2:1 and eventually lost and finished 2nd but... wow, still can't get over those hands
anyway just wanted to share and say hello and thanks for all the great content
Rob

welcome! Wow! about the slowplaying you semi did the right thing as flopping quads cripples the deck, since it is unlikely anyone else hit the flop, you were right for checking.

thanks for the welcome
yea I felt like I had no choice, I basically had the nuts and they were folding to min bets with much worse flops, they had to figure me for trips, and checking gave them the chance to draw, even AA would have been in trouble ... you said 'semi did the right thing'... def would be interested in hearing other ways to play this as I didn't feel like I had many options, pretty sure any bet would have induced a fold, and I felt like a near lock to beat any hand at showdown anyway
edit: on the KKJ there was a flop better, (just remembered) a small bet about 100 (30/60 blinds at this point), I just called it figuring it was my money to win and may as well give him better odds to call my allin on the river

Also, when you flop quads you don't have to worry about giving free cards. You already have the nuts.

Whrn you flop quads your only worry is how to get the max amount of money in the pot, if you think slowplaying will do it for you then by all means slowplay.

Great job, and welcome!
As a general rule I try not to slowplay hands that are lower than a full house. Betting your trips hard (pair on board, 3rd in hand) is a good idea, as most people think you are bluffing.
