If you've got $500 to deposit you should be looking at .1/.2 at the very max otherwise the short term setbacks you describe will just continue to run all over you eventually. Search for articles on bankroll management/variance

The usual formula is to have 20 buy-ins where each buy-in gives you 100 bb. As suggested above, that would put you on 2NL.

With a $500 BR, he can certainly play 5nl/10nl, and 25nl if he's a winning player. But it wouldn't be wise to play 50nl.

And to OP, you say you are a good poker player, just running bad. However, you are dwelling over hands that are generally considered coolers (depending on how the money went in). Add to that the fact you are playing significantly under rolled, and I would say you have a lot more to learn than you think.

With the $100 roll, you shouldn't be playing over 5nl.

Imo, keep your 500 and continue playing your current bankroll. Drop to 2nl (.01/,02) and start grinding up the stakes. This accomplishes two things; 1) your roll won't be effected as much from run bad and 2) you will prove to yourself that you are (or are not) a winnig player. Move up as bankrol management and win rate allows. See the articles in the beginners digest for prerequisites.

My experience w/ this site is that once you start learning you find out how much more there is to learn. If you start at the bottom you can make the nessicary mistakes it takes to learn (we learn from our mistakes yeah?). Good luck.

No offense dude but if you think a program like this would help you then you should probably start at 2NL. I suppose to someone who has no qualms about depositing $500NL into a poker site (I assume you're gainfully employed) this would seem like a grand waste of time, but four month down the road you'd be quite glad you did regardless.

Doing so would be useless without the correct approach to learning however.
