Ive been playing NL holdem for about 4 months, ive yet to get myself on a solid strat, and i have a few things i need advice on.

i tried sitngos and just could make it work, so i moved to cash tables.

i have a few simple questions.

a - bankroll is at 400, so i am playing the 0.12/0.25 tables NL tables. however im wondering if i should be on the limit tables as I am still having a problem controlling my tilt factor on the downswings (i think)

b - what should i expect to earn playing 4 tables at once? excluding rackeback and all that, just the per hour per table on this level... because i think im aiming to high or excpecting to much..

c - i prefer to play tight, and again have the tilt issue at the moment (workin on it), so should i be playing the 10 man tables? i currently play short handed, and im thinking i should move to full tables...

lastly, this is a hand i played yesterday, did i do anything wrong here?

opponent had $75
i had $55

my hole cards - 55
opponent raised prefolp $2
i called
flop was 567 ofsuited

i raised $5
opp re-reaised $15
i went all in
he called

trun and river didnt matter, he had 77 in the whole.
i think i played it right, infact maybe perfectly, but it was just a rough beat thats gonna happend from time to time...

Welcome to FTR. Post in the Beginners Circle for now, pls.

Set over set happens, but not often enough to justify folding here.

{moved from NLHE Strategies}

a) $400/25= 16 buy-ins. If you have money you can afford to reload then it doesn't matter but if it's your set bankroll then I'd move down to $10NL (40 buy-ins) for now while you work on your game. I can't comment on whether you should be playing LHE. It's a different game.

b) Don't be results oriented. Work on getting game and results will come.

c) Yes, playing full-ring is highly recommended for beginners. It's slower and therefore easier to multitable and lower variance than SHNL. Don't add more tables because it's slower though, stick with 4 for now and work on getting better reads.

1. Read Harrington on Hold'em 1.
2. Watch these videos and the other numerous videos found on FTR. (Bigspenda's etc) http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...eo-t65458.html
3. I would seriously suggest dropping down to at least $5NL until you are a proven winner there over at least 10k hands. Skill improves a lot slower than bankroll.
4. It's okay to be tight.. but don't be weak tight. Be aggressive.
5. Read this entire site, post hands, ask advice, rinse, repeat.

I've only been a member here for a short while and feel I have already improved immensely.

A conservative estimated winrate at 10NL would be 3pt/100, where 1ptBB = 2BB in your games giving you 6BB or $0.60 per 100 hands. Assuming 60 hand per hour and table you´d make 0.60*60*4/100 = $1.44/hr at 10NL

thanks guys

about the tables I should play , my current bankroll is 600, which is still not enough for 40 buy ins to the 25NL tables.

so, if I move down and 4 table the 10NL games, for a few hours a day, at approx $1-2/hour, it will take me 3+ months to get my bankroll up to 1,000 and move to 25NL tables...

that sound right? thats an awful long time,,,

how bout i get poker tracker working, put in about 10K hands, post results here and go from there ? :P

anything besides p tracker that may help you give suggestions on my play?

$750 should be enough to play 25NL. If your roll drops below $500 though move back down to 10NL.

you want ~20 buyins, so $500 is fine for 25nl
