1.
I was reading davsimon's articles about pre and post flop play and also the 19 playable hands article, but I seem to only get these hands maybe 1 in 20 hands.. am I seriously only meant to play 1 in 20 hands?

2.
I understand the concept behind estimated value, but how do I work out an exact value for it? Is it practical to work out mid-hand where you only have 20 secs to act?

3. Was trying to find details on folding equity.. I'm still unsure of what it is.

if you haven't already done so, take a look at this link: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-36037.htm

1) If you're playing SnGs, yes you should be playing that tight. You open your range when the bubble comes. If you're talking about cash games and aok's post about 19 hands, then well yeah that's pretty tight ... It's a good strategy to practice if you're a beginner, but you'll find that none of the "good" players play that few hands.

2) Do you mean expected value? Read this: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-22221.htm

If you think in simple terms of everyone gets the same amount of hands, over a long term, let's say 100,000 hands, everybody gets the same amount of hands, same amount of AA, KK, 72offsuit. If you play every hand, and everyone at the table played every hand, you would basically break even, except the house would win by taking rake. By playing less hands, you are starting with only the hands that will win consistantly over a long period of time, and while everyone battles over that same amount of time to breajk even, you will only play in the potential winning hands.

The perfect play would consist of only playing AA and starting with the best hand. The problem stems from staying ahead of the blinds, antes and the times that AA does lose, so by adding just enough good hands, and only long term winning hands, we play winning poker.
