I am an all round poker player. In my short poker career I have played sngs, FR, 6-Max, and MTT's. However, I want to focus on one area of my game, aside from MTT's which I will probablly just play occasionaly for fun, and the sngs on Prima have a ridiculous blind structure so I don't want to play them. I have heard advice from many experienced players on this site to not play 6-Max as a beginner but rather full ring. Having said that, I have about 3k hands of both 6-Max and Full ring on PT, and my stats are -1.98BB/100 at FR, and 13.4BB/100 at 6-Max. I know this isn't that large of a sample size but should I be sticking to 6-Max?

play what you feel most comfortable in, if you dont do well at 6-max you can always fall back on full ring (slower tempo, more straightforward strategy). as long as you practice good bankroll management (http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...poker-4971.htm) you'll be fine! good luck.

If you're comfortable playing 6-max and think that's more fun I don't see any reason at all to not stay there. The reason it's usually a good idea to play full tables when starting out is that you don't have to make a lot of tough decissions in marginal situations.

flotu is right. The reason beginners are pointed in the direction of FR when they first start is because it is that little bit easier to develop a basic winning strategy that doesnt rely quite as much on adapting to individual players.
In other words, its probably slightly easier to become a winning player at full ring.
If youre already comfortable at 6max then there isnt any reason to change.
Youll probably find yourself playing a fair bit of both in time anyway.

I think another reason why my results are better at 6-Max is because that is where all my previous poker experience has come from. (Home game)
