Hi all,

I started playing online poker about 6 months ago. knew the rules but that was about it. Needless to say I lost my $50 and another and another!!! Decided to give it a break but I couldn't leave it alone so I put another $100 in and lost that. This was all around August/September. Then decidided I am not a poker player and so I stopped.

I then started reading and found FTR. I read loads and started playing again at the start of this year with $100 put into Paradise playing $2NL. Won about $150 and cashed that out to repay some of what I lost.

I continued playing and wnning and most of all learning. I kept reading the sticky posts and some of the older posts and learnt a lot. I then decided to try Europoker and their 100% bonus. I thought it would be quite easy to clear. I was wrong.

Anyway, I am playing 10NL now and doing quite well. I have built my $100 into $300 and am a 1/3 of the way to clearing the $100 bonus.

I would just like to say to anyone that has lost a bit in the beginning to stick at it, read some books, post questions on this forum and keep a level head, Bad beats happen - don't tilt, Don't play when you have other problems in your life (had a row with the wife/girlfriend/partner, I did and droppe dmy entire $100 bankroll!). Continue learning and don't give up.

This post is really a commendation to all the people on this forum who took the time to share their ups and downs with other people and provide advice to beginners. It has really helped me to grow as a player, even though I have only speant a few months of really playing, I have learnt so much.

I will be staying at the $10NL tables until I can get to $500 and then onto the $25NL tables. I have had a play on the $25NL (bad I know, not bankrolled yet) and its quite scary seeing the $60 pots whereas I am more used to $10 pots.

Are the 25NL tables much different to the $10NL tables? tighter? More Aggressive? or just the same?

Thanks again everyone. I will be posting some updates at 5,000 & 10,000 hands (at 3,500 at the moment) to see what you guys think.

Good to see you are running well.

I started at 10nl. 25nl isn't any different really, plenty of loose passive fish and some rocks. Get Pokertracker and Gametime+ if you don't have them already, and make sure you are using good table selection (read Fnord's sticky in Online Poker Rooms)

Once you get to 25nl you should be able to boost your roll substantially by clearing bonuses - I would do PartyPoker as soon as you hit $500. Check out EasyT's bonus whoring thread.

Nice work Hornsta ... I'd be interested in what your BB/100 stat is. I'm trying to work my way up in 2nl playing tight and reasonably passive given that most opponents at that level dont respect your bets. Nearing 2,000 hands I'm managing about 12BB/100hands, which is going to take me a fair while even to build the BR to 10nl level. So I'm curious whether you feel you went on a bit of a "run" to increase your BR so fast at the end there, or whether I'm going to slowly
