I'm brand new to cash games, been playing them here and there for about 10 days, off and on. I've lost about $20 before today, and after this hand I'm down about $10, playing at .05/.10 except for my very first day, when I joined a .10/.25 table and got my Aces cracked to lose $10! After that I got scared and moved down a level.

Anyway -- I'm posting this partly cause I'm happy with the hand, but also because I want to make sure I didn't take any risks here or mis-step at all... and maybe to get one or two "wow"s on the hand, cause it was pretty lucky!

Yeah okay, so you raised his bet on the turn. That's something I didn't do -- I just played passively until the end.

What made you want to do that? Did it help convince him that he had you beat, you figure? Wasn't it a risk that he might fold right there, without a river bet?

No, I played this pretty like crap, even though it doubled me up.....there's absolutely no way this guy should have called my all-in bet on the river. I just got lucky that he rivered a straight and couldn't get away from it, even though it was totally obvious I either had a full house, quads, or an A-high straight...

Maybe I didn't play this hand like crap, though...if I bet at any other time during the hand I probably take down the pot right there, better to wait until somebody hits "a monster" and let them give you all of their money.
