I've been watching my game over the last couple of weeks and its becoming more and more obvious that my biggest money loser is a subtle one, having a fallible hand like TPTK or bottom two post flop, betting the half to a full sized pot and getting called by a person that has position on me.

Getting smooth called with a flush and straight draw on the board with a pot sized bet always has a scare card on the turn.

What do you do when you're out of position with TPTK? Are you going to check the turn when you get smooth called? Throw out another raise to see where you stand then check the river? Take it all the way? Assume you have no reads on your opponent and the pot was raised preflop.

It's a hand that can get you in trouble or pay you off. To answer your question, I would bet large on the turn unless the card is truly scary. In that case I cut down my bet amount to a little more than my flop bet to test the water. The reason I still bet here is to represent the coordination if it's not his.

If no scare card comes you bet 3/4 again. If he still calls you, then expect two pair or trips. Only truly ridiculous players or loose high stacks will call these kind of bets with a draw.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?

Here is a good time to check raise. IMO But don't check if no one's gonna bet. It's hard to know, but sometimes you can know. The checkraise screams strength and you can price them out of their draw.
