This came from a weird SNG yesterday. I just knew from the second hand that it was going to be me versus the guy on the button here at the end of it.
He was the only one playing with any kind of selection it seemed.

Everest Poker — Hand Details
Tournament Table: Fuji-21
Game Type: Hold'em
Blinds: 2.00/4.00
Stakes: 4.00/4.00
Currency: USD
Starting Date: 2006-03-19 GMT
Starting Time: 17:25:46 GMT

Seating Arrangement:

SB is at seat 4 with 113.50.
HERO is at seat 7 with 228.50.
VILLAIN is at seat 8 with 205.00.
BTN is at seat 10 with 453.00.

Post Blinds:

The button is at seat 10.
SB posts the small blind of 2.00.
HERO posts the big blind of 4.00.

Deal Pocket Cards:
HERO: 3c Ks

Pre-flop:
VILLAIN calls 4.00.
BTN folds.
SB calls 2.00.
HERO checks.

*** I wouldn't even think of playing this if anyone had raised; not even given that VILLAIN and SB have shown themselves to be willing to play pretty much any two cards pf.

Flop (6h 3h 3d):
SB Checks.
HERO raises 12.00.
VILLAIN calls 12.00.
SB folds.

*** I had put VILLAIN down as a calling-station. I was fairly confident I'd get a call here no matter what. But didn't feel like betting more than the pot.

Turn (6h 3h 3d 3s):

*** Okay. Normally this would almost be a problem but we know the villain is likely to call bets. But how much risk are they likely to take?
I decided on a weak turn bet.

HERO raises 22.00.
VILLAIN raises 102.00.

*** Beyond my wildest dreams.

HERO raises 190.50.
VILLAIN calls 87.00.

River (6h 3h 3d 3s 2h):
Showdown:
HERO shows 3c Ks.
HERO has 3c 3h 3d 3s Ks: Four of a Kind
VILLAIN shows Ac Ad.
VILLAIN has 3h 3d 3s Ac Ad: Full House
VILLAIN is eliminated.

And yes, any pf raise from the VILLAIN would have spared them this fate.

So I'm fairly chuffed with the result of this hand (and whole SNG, even if I did finally finish 2nd to guy I mentioned above).

My reasons for posting are:
a) well, a bit proud of it.
b) It went well, which makes it harder to judge objectively. I do normally struggle to know how to bet trips when two are showing. Is betting normally the right thing to do? At micro limits?
c) When so much of your hand is showing, is it right to bet strongly on the turn? Should I make a pot-sized bet even then?
d) If you were the Villain and had a pre-flop calling hand (like 99 say) would you attack this flop?
Blah blah Op Blah blah

Faith in Jesus Christ is +EV. That is all.

Everything has to do with what range of hands you are putting the villain on. Therefore, when the 3rd tre comes, and you make quads, it's actually a green light to bet hard for a lot of reasons. You want mid pockets to follow you deep here before an overcard hits, and know that high pockets follow anyway. Your implied odds have naturally gone way up against any hand that will pay further in this pot after the last 3 drops. You get either a fold or a big committment from the opponent. You have to see this texture, and take advantage. Slowing down after the turn drops is -EV.

When deciding your course of action, never forget the low end of an opponents range, while taking care not to weigh your choice too heavily on that low range. Easier said than done sometimes. You get a feel for it. In this case your opponents entire range was at a pinnacle of confidence after the turn. That's the time to strike deep.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
