So far when I play poker I'm looking for tables with the most big stacks on them as I fancy I can win most from them. Lately this has not proved to be the case But anyway there are always shortstacks hanging around and I realise I am often unsure how to play them. Say Mr_shortstack has $2.50 in a $10 NL game and he opens for .50. What sort of hands can I play against him? I have no set odds so low pairs seem less useful... Do I just need high cards to play? AQ or better? This assumes he's not a complete donk shortstack. For a while I tried re-raising him all in with hands like TT or JJ but I was often either racing or dominated so I gave that up. Anyone got any advice? I'm reluctant to just call as 2/3 times I miss the flop, drawing hands are of little value as he will bet most of his chips on the flop, so I have the choice to call and catch a bluff or fold. How do you crush the shortstacks?
Must get more aggressive - Tonight we dine in $25NL! rah rah rah! etc

Depends on how tight they are preflop, as my strategy will differ. Usually if I get involved in a hand with them I am going to get it all in.

Tight short stacks I only play monster hands against.

Loose short stacks I will play high cards against and c-bet as normal.
Flopping quads and boats like its my job

Every PP 99-AA, AKs/o, AQ, ev AJ. Reraise preflop with QQ-AA and AK. If you call with the lower PP check flop if no high card hits, call his all in.
If an A flop and you are in, 75% of the time he has it (A-x).
