I've been playing AOKrongly's 19 hands, and intend to do so for the next few thousand hands until I get a better feel for poker. Having said that, I'm seeing that the biggest winners seem to have VP$iP numbers significantly higher than us really tight folks. And especially those of us that Poket Tracker calls Weak-Tight/Aggressive.

I see this the most in SnGs, where the opponent seems to always have 65o when the flop comes 6Q6, and so forth. It's tough to put a guy on a hand when he's splashing around in most pots, and he frequently has the goods in the form of some unlikely holding.

So, my question is this: when I get ready to move out of first gear, how does one actually play LAGG suggessfully, both in ring and (especially, as this is where it seems to really shine) tournament settings?

Is there a list of hands that should be added, or is there a mindset that needs to be adopted? Maybe it's getting comfortable with your reads on opponents and using that to get you through most pots with any cards (where the essential thing is to be in the pot in the first place), and letting luck carry you through the rest?

What's the deal? Is it just that I'm seeing the loose guys that get lucky and view that as success (where the unlucky ones are out early?)

In part. Loose does not equal success. But the guys that make the biggest profits will not be nits. They'll be the ones who get into a large amount of pots with the fish and exploit their postflop mistakes.

There's nothing wrong with sticking to tight-aggressive. LAG play is over-rated imho. Just work on improving your hand-reading skills and post-flop skills.

19 hands is not for SnGs. As the blinds get bigger you need to be more willing to get it allin with worse hands. Once the blinds are very big you are happy with any A, any PP etc...
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?
