By definition when you are “mixing it up” you’re not playing as well as you normally do. For example calling with AA isn’t the most profitable move normally. At the same time, if everyone folds to your reraise because they know you only do that when you have AA, KK, QQ, or AKs, your play will not be as profitable.
How much should I change my style to maximize my profit? … (Also, is mixing it up preflop enough, or should I also change my flop/turn/river play [I’m very aggressive as long as I have the odds])
I was thinking of playing 1 out of 20 of the hands opposite normal (call with AA, raise with KJo, and ignore position preflop in those hands) …
The other thought is to just ignore position some of the time preflop.
How much do I need to change my play to confuse players read to max my profit?
(When I finally really tightened up my preflop play, I helped my profit so much that I’m now resisting loosening up to mix up my play)

How long do you sit at a table? How many hands have you played with mostly the same people at the table? How many of your hands have been revealed? Remember only a few people at the table are even paying attention to how you play. I think most people pay more attention to things like if you pre flop raise -- and are first to act (either EP or checked to) you always bet. I find that if I have gotten and a little run (won 3 of 5 or something like that), that if I have raised pre flop and then bet out on the flop, people will fold up. That being said, you can use that as an advantage.
Mixing it up is fine, but it only matters if you show your cards. I guess I am trying to say is mix it a little bit, but I don't keep it "as a thing to do" unless I see people reacting to my play a certain way.

That makes sense.. and even more so at the level I play.
I'm normally at .25/.50 Limit now, and I would assume that at least 8/10 at the table are not watching, and thats probally true for a couple more limit changes as well.
I normally dont move, I like to sit at 3 tables and get up when i'm done playing (like 3 hour sessions normally)

I use to sit at the same tables for the entire session also, but I started taken Fnord's (and other's) advice, and now I look for better tables for more loose players and position on those players. It really matters, BB/100 has gone up quite abit. I play $2/$4 so it may be different at that level, but I would not overlook table selection

well, if you dont think mixing it up at $2/$4 is very important, i's say i'm safe at $.25/$.50 =)
I'll also start paying more attention to the tables as well

Only mix it up when it becomes obvious, your straight foward taggy style has been found out. Otherwise, stick with great fundamental poker and grind baby grind. That is how bank rolls are built.
At low limits with laggy's cycling in and out, dont give it a thought. When you get to 20/40 or so, you have to be able to put a move on now and then to generate action with your best hands. They always have to question whether you really have it or not. At low limits, they will always not believe u and make you prove it over and over.
