I have found that I rely on my HUD way more than I actually should. Instead of making notes on not only what a player does wrong, but what kind of player they are I figure "my HUD will take care of that."

I don't play poker anymore. I rely on my HUD to make the reads for me, and I rarely put a player on a range. It is sad that I feel like I am a worse poker player 2 months later than I was when I started playing again in February.

I am thinking about experimenting with no HUD for the next few days and seeing how that goes. Anyone ever try that?

I play at $20nl and I've never used a HUD. Actually I've always had a sneaking suspicion that it could do more harm than good at this early stage in my poker career...
<@d0zer> how will you learn if I don't berate you harshly?

Have you thought to play with a HUD, but quit autopiloting, and start taking notes? Kinda the best of both worlds, and the added information is what you need in poker.

the HUD stats are no replacement for reads / ranges and its not even close. basically, what stacks said, just do both.

Yeah, I think I'll be cutting down to 8 tables and stopping my auto-piloting. Cruise Control doesn't always work.

Maybe I'll keep the HUD =D

id say no HUD and fewer tables for a while(like 4). Take notes, pay attention, make some good reads, and once thats a habit go back to the HUD slowly adding more tables.

Playing without a HUD is fine. Playing with a HUD is fine. It's whatever. However, I don't see why people wouldn't use a HUD. Poker is a game of making decisions based on limited information. It stands to reason that the more information you have the better decision you can make. If you learn not to rely on only your HUD, and still make notes, and pick up on tendencies, etc, then I don't see why you wouldn't also use a HUD.

I use a HUD even with limitted tables running, but mainly because I use HEM notes rather than pokersite ones as I love the popup nature of them.
Just playing to improve.

playing with a HUD is not "fine" it's a pretty shitty crutch that has led to a ton of ppl who move up stakes and cannot beat REALLY easy games like 10nl, 25nl, etc...

thoughts on playing low numbers of tables while running hud and having time to really understand what those numbers mean?
