Cold called small bet w/77
HU with aggressive, solid player at $50 buyin home game.
Flop is 99X. He bets
Turn is blank. He bets bigger
River 9. He bets even bigger
I call all these and take it down. Was a little worried about a higher pp, hence no raise on the end.
woe unto thee who thinkest thy opponents are 'calling stations' 'cause they look you up on one pot -- a pot you were clearly trying to buy.

congrats?
Your post is so non specific it's tough to comment (what draws were out?) and your play is based on a read, which no one has but you.

Kept getting tempted to raise it
1. Anyone see a spot for a raise?
2. Or any value in raising?
1. If others are in, it's a clear go-for-overcalls situation, i.e. i'm either way behind or way ahead.
2. Aggressive players could push with anything here, repping the 9 ... so I don't think I learn anything by raising.

Many aggressive players will think twice before being aggressive over shown aggression. Unless they're a maniac...but that's different all together.
As for this hand, grats on calling the bluff down. In the future it might be wise to only continue against this player with hands you'll be confident enough to fire on the river with.

raise the flop. you just gave his bluff a chance to catch a higher pair while controlling the hand.
