Hi guys, another one of those monthly micro review things. I think it's nice and yet not sure if people are into it, but i think it's useful to be setting goals and checking them.
Here were mine from last month:
Quote:
Goals for may:
- Play at least 15k hands
- STAY at 10 and that's it, just play there and stay. I don't care how much i win as long as i'm stable at 10
- Buy PNLH and start reading that
- Finish reading The Poker Mindset
- Stop going apeshit when i lose, by a factor of 15%
|
** another goal was to make at least $100 and i made $125 which is awesome
So... damn, only played 12k hands. About 800 less than previous month. I blame that on starting a new stake and being gentle in the beginning. Goal 2, stay at ten... did it! yey! And i didn't do any of the last 3. Damn. Not into Poker Mindset, it's just full of stuff i pretty much already know or is no surprise. I do need to buy PNLH though. I think it's coz at the moment i'm not struggling so much so there's less desperation to study. Naughty really.
Ok, a nice couple of graphs to perv at:

May was a mixture between 5nl and 10nl although only like 5% maybe.
Goals for June:
1. Converge stats. Currently 18/11, want to be around 18/14.
2. Have a go at adding 78s to my range as suggested by Robb so when i get to 25 i've got some experience of not being so polarized.
3. Continue to not limp as much. This has been coming to me quite well of late. Tonight's sesh was almost totally converged with hardly any limps at all.
4. Continue my investigation into check raising well hit flops. Also, checking behind well hit flops. So far it's been explosively +EV.
5. Decide not to give a fuck if i see monotone or not. Within reason. I slow down almost every time i see monotone (well, like the 3rd suit hits) and if i did this every time, overall, considering how often they're actually hitting there... it's -EV.
Ok chaps, post away. Keep the graphs around 7/800px wide so it can be taken in without horizontal scrolling. Post your goals and see if you can review them next month perhaps?

These monthly recaps are standard.

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Looks like you and Micro posted a May review thread within a couple of minutes of each other. I think the "goals + graphs" is a good idea - the other thread is just graphs/review.

3. I don't limp except LP and behind other limpers, and you won't either when you get to 25nl+. It's just not profitable.
4. Delayed cbetting is fine in spots. Don't get too passive. Choose your spots.
5. Remember that statistically, the 3rd flush card generally just makes a bunch of draws active more than completing them. Try to get reads and barrel when you can - they don't have it that often. But the do have it sometimes, and we try NOT to stack off too often, like you're saying.
Nice graph, btw - I wish my first 40k hands looked that good.

Cheers Robb.
3. Yeah i'm pretty much almost there now. Just pondering that pocket pair thing you mentioned regarding the limp/calling. Will reply to that later too.
4. Funny, i almost see checking the hit flop as aggressive, weird? it's delayed aggression because you're going to be raising the fuck out of them on the later streets. Fish hate this it seems. But i do need to be careful.
5. So you're saying that if we get 3 suits, we still need to be careful coz they will be perhaps chasing the 4th now? that's true. But i guess we're usually a 75% fav at this point anywho?
so ya, thanks, the graph is looking ok, i feel rather blessed, especially when i hear 25 or 50nlers posting their grim results. I do sympathise. Will get me one day though. I just tend to get out when i lose a lot, and drop down to soak up some more confidence. I'm talking a couple of buy-ins here, not even a proper downswing. I also have excellent discipline with dropping a hand when i know or suspect i'm beat. Hell, i can drop a flush on an unpaired board!
PS. Dude, how are you doing pokerwise these days??

Pokerz r good, thx, short session tonight went well, +1 BI. I'm still learning and playing and withdrew another $200 just like last month. And a downswing isn't grim, it's just poker. If you don't get used to poker being poker, it really screws with your head and your game.

Move up. Invest like $500 into your roll if you can afford it.

I'm still rolled for 100nl despite downswing. I moved down for reasons unrelated to bankroll. Because of work, I'll get to play poker just about never in next 6 weeks. I'd rather play my rusty B- game at lower stakes and work on my game. I'll be up at 100nl in late July, when I have time to work on my game again.
