Hi everybody.

$25 max, .10/.25 blinds at UB

In my first hand at the table, I'm in the big blind with QQ.

UTG, a complete maniac with about $11 bucks left, raises the bb to $5.00.

Everyone folds around to me. What would you have done?

Push, he's a maniac. He's got 11 bucks and is gonna call the next 6. If he has AA or KK then you're done, but there are a lot of hands he'd be raising with and you're still the favorite. Not to expensive to take it all the way.

Besides, if you call and he does have AA or KK, you'll be AI on a flop of all unders and flat calling will give you a chance to fold to an ace or king high flop when you might still have the best hand.

As I've learned the hardway UTG doesn't lead out like that without some sort of legit hand. That being said since it's just you and him and you have an actual hand yourself QQ's worsse case senario your dominated best case senario you are favorite. Push that mo fo. If he does win at least you know he's a maniac so with some legit hands you should have no problem getting your $$$ back.

Even maniacs get AA/KK. But if he's a true maniac then you've gotta push.

Lemme guess result, you lost.

Well like everyone else here would have done I did push. The thing that made me think about it was that his bet was so big that it was almost like he wanted someone to not believe him and put him all in with his AA/KK. Ended up alright though. And this dude IS nuts, check out the hand at the bottom, came about 5 hands later.

1st hand great call and an even better flop for you.

2nd hand OMG I'm shocked that UB didn't throw up the flush for the maniac Other than that there's no way your laying down the cowboys so it's good call and great read on that dude.

Just curious. If this was your first hand at the table, how did you know that UTG was a complete maniac? Did you observe the table for a while or did you just base your assertion of him being a maniac on the fact that he raised pre-flop to $5?

In any event, you needed to do exactly what you did do..... push.

I've played with him at the $25 max tables before....his strategy is "play-money"-like. One hand he spent his entire stack (over $20 bucks) on an obvious flush draw and hit it, the guy he was going against was doing everything he could to push him out but he kept chasing. Each time he gets busted out he just reloads another 25 bucks and gives that away too, gotta love it.
