So..... I have been introduced to the world of online poker! I was playing at a home game last wednesday, when the player one my left busted out. We'd been talking the whole time, and he asked if he should go to the atm blah blah. I offered to just lend him $55 instead. He said sure, but told me he'd have to give pay me back in online monies. I said ok, and so after i bust out we go to his place (I get stacked bby a rivered full house while holding a turned straight all in on the turn).
Once we get to his place we made an account on Full Tilt for me, then played heads up for awhile. I started playing $10NL with the money and win three buy-ins in a few minutes. Afterwards we went to eat, talked for awhile, then decided that we'd be rounding buddies. But besides that I've found a way to play all the time.
I found Flop Turn River while trying to find some info on online poker. So hello, nice to be here, I look forward to experiencing the online world with everyone. I will most likely chronicle my days in this thread, update my progression thru the levels, etc. I am going to be depositing soon too. $70 isn't enough to play with. Until later....

Welcome. You're already doing two things right: finding someone committed to studying the game with you, and identifying resources to learn more quickly. Good luck with your poker career!

Hey everyone! Thanks for responding. I've been playing poker for a little while, since february this year. I've read parts of Super System, the Little Green Book (title?), and a couple of others. I definitely have an idea about bankroll management. The games I play in are super soft and the players aren't very good, but because of that I've gone thru some very bad losses. Rakeback... I did not sign up for that, but i will be now that I know about it. I'm going to deposit my money on poker stars though. I made an EPassport account, but it said my money won't be available until the 27. On poker stars I can deposit immediately. Nothing exciting happened on the tables yesterday, up about a buy-in.

It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?

So things went really well yesterday. I got $100 deposited onto Poker Stars, I like the E-Check feature. For some reason the No-Limit/Pot-Limit Microstakes hold em page wouldn't show up though. So instead of playing my regular game I play some stud and razz. I doubt I'll be back to razz for awhile though as I dropped $12 (smallest game is $.5/$1).
After the razz debacle I started playing stud, and a few $1 sit n goes. Did really well at the $.04/$.08 Stud H/L making back the razz loss plus a few dollars. Then I lost the first sit n go I played (was a full ring table), then came back from ~800 chips to win the second! I decided though thata there is not enough profit to be had at the $1 SnG's, and moved up to the $3.25's.
I played a little over twenty of the 6-max games over the course of the night. I don't remember, or care really, how many I won or took second in. What I do care about is that I am up to $193.68 in my account. Yeah!
So today I'm going to hang out the threads a little while, then go back to hopefully beating the 6-max games again. BTW, I have The Mitchell Brothers "Micheal Jackson" remix on repeat. Keeps me focused and upbeat. Try it out?!?

Just a quick thought...if i was you i'd read the "newbie circle of death" sticky in the beginners section.
Don't wanna jinx you, but you're intro to online poker sounds very familiar.

Ok, so I ran pretty bad today int the SNG's. Lost a bunch once it got down to three and four handed. Most all of the beats were I got it in well ahead, only to get drawn out. Still managed to win 3 and take second in one. Yeah!?!? (down about $40).
I ended up entering a few $4 180 man sit n goes (2 be exact). don't remember how I busted the first, but got chip lead in the second and stayed either there or top five almost the entire way. Ended up having 3/4 of the chips when it got down to 4 handed, then won with pocket aces vs pocket sixes all-in preflop. The runner up had been telling me my tourney game was bad, and i sucked and all that. Wanted to chop but I said,"If I'm so bad why don't you just beat me." Then the aces came. LOL!!!
I love poker!

So I'm about to start playing soon. There are a few live games going on in the city today that will be pretty good, but I've decided that I'm going to work on building my bankroll online instead. I'm up quite a bit in relation to my starting BR, but feel like I can be doing much, much better.
Yesterday was the first "big" win, but it felt pretty easy. Not to sound ridiculous, it just seemed like once I got a decent sized stack I was able to pick the game apart. Then once I had the chip lead I 'knew' firrst place was mine. However, I feel like I am doing poorly in the 6-max games. I usually play the $3.25's, but have been taking shots at the $6.60's. Where I can readily win at least one out of four $3, I have yet to win a $6. I definitely believe that I have an edge one most all of the players in the $6 games, but I ma usually just sitting down randomly between $3 or $6. Is it the players I'm up against? Or is it just that I am playing way to loose? Has anyone else noticed a big difference in the style/level of play between these levels???
On different note... I really want to step into playing cash games. The only problem is that the screen is always blank for the micro limits. Why is that???? It's fine for the all of the other limits, even for the micro limit fixed games. Why does Poker Stars want to lock me out of the juicy games?????
If anyone wants to talk to me send me a pm or im on aim. Until later....

Good morning! Yesterday went well again. I final tabled a bunch of multi table SNG's, but went out on big hands in fifth and sixth place in the biggest ones. I won a $5 27 man, and some other one. Even though I ended the day up a good bit I couldn't help but feel sad. I was in position to win both of the $12 180 man's I was in, a disconnection and a bad beat sent me packing, but ended up out of the top three. I really expected to win, and felt like I had lost once the dust had settled. I had to stop playing for two hours just to clear my head. Is this normal??? I don't want to feel this way when I do well, as I know it hinders my play. Any ideas as to what I should do?
Also, I finally figured out how to get the cash games up. The disconnect protect feature was checked. I undid it and then I could see again!!! I ended up playing $25NL for awhile, ended that session up $53.
Today I'm going to just focus on the sit and goes again though, as I feel that I leave too much money on the tables. Winning another 180 is the goal for the day. Until later...

So it's been awhile since I've been here. I've taken a break from sit n goes to play cash games. I have cashed out some of my roll too. I cashed last week in the Sunday Hundred Grand, but went out this week early. Anyway, after New Year's it is back to the single table tournaments.
A funny hand from a little while ago. I had just said to the other player "let's play. this is where the fun is." he says no, and just pushes all-in every hand preflop. Let the fun ensue....
