jera, there is nowhere near enough information here to give a meaningful answer to your question. Read some of the other hand histories here to see what you should be thinking about during the hand, and telling us about after. Id suggest going through the beginner circle stickies too.
Ragnar, that SPR shit is getting boring.

How about rather than asking this this question, you ask "How would you play TPGK in/out of position against a _______ opponent who coldcalls preflop?" or something.

KJ is a 'top pair' hand, as in that's what you're most likely to get if you catch a piece of the flop. Other examples are AJ+ and KQ.
When you put money into the pot preflop with these hands and then hit top pair, you are usually continuing unless the board texture or the villain's betting indicates that your top pair is no good. Don't focus on results, focus on whether you played the hand well. KJ is by no means a great hand, my advice would be to fold it if you're not sure what to do with it post flop.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. I have been reading the hand histories to gain some insite to aid my decision making. I guess I should not bet so large with just top pair. The other person just called every bet I made so they basically let me pay them. So much to learn but I love the game

Keep the pot small. TPGK is by no means a hand to create a big pot.
And learn to post hands on here. You'll get better responses that way.
|

That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Everything in this thread is so general. From the question, to some of the answers.
Jera, we can't give you a good answer. You didn't post any kind of relevant information. We need every piece of information available (stack sizes, size of the pot, what kind of player he was, etc) to make an informed/correct decision.
BooG: Are you keeping the pot small with TPGK (such as AJ on Ah6c5d in a raised pot) against a 90/30/10 opponent over 400 hands? I sure hope not. Therefore, you can't make that general statement that "TPGK is by no means a hand to create a big pot with".
It's all situational. And always has been!

It's entirely possible this was a joke in what I knew was going to be a waste of server space.
I don't remember though, it was late.
