hi guys, one question
If I have a King high flush, and there is an ace in the community cards, is my flush still a "nut flush"?
My friend said that it would be considered "the nuts" perhaps, but not "the nut flush" because I didn't have the ace. is my friend right?

its the nut flush if the ace in the community is of that suit becuase it is the best possible flush anyone can have. No flush in that instance can beat yours.

Of course its the nut flush... having the "nut flush" means to have the highest possible flush at that moment, and if the ace is in the community then your king is the highest flush possible

It is the nut flush. This is one of the reasons Sklansky and others sometimes play Kx suited in limit. If the Ace of the suit in question comes on board then you have the best flush(assuming there is no straight flush).

i wouldnt play any suited cards, but generally when i hold 2 suited and hit 3 of my suit on the board, i play it like the nuts unless i face opposition or only have like a 6 high flush... ill pay the better flush the few times it comes up or a 4th suited hits the board.

When holding the ace for what you think is the nut flush make sure to be wary of those suited cards and their connectivity. Nothing is worst than hitting the A high flush and sitting in front of your computer thnking I have the nuts when some is holding the suited 57 on a 468 board of the same suit. It's easy when you hit that ace high flush to think hell yeah I got the nuts. Then you cry to mama about your bad beat because you didn't see the straight flush possibility in your excitement. Trust me, it makes for a bad day.

Actually, with the suited Ace on the board, all players completing the flush with their hole cards would have the "Ace-high flush."
There is, however, a phrase that distinguishes which player has the better flush (even if it's not the "nut" flush, i.e., the suited King in the hole if it's not on the board). Similar to "kicker," it's something like "Ace-high flush with Queen <blank>," but the word is not "kicker."
I'd been trying to remember this for a while. I forgot where I'd seen/heard it.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Or am I insane?

Here's how I remember seeing it:
The board contains A742 all hearts.
PlayerX has 10h.
PlayerY has Qh.
PlayerZ has 6h.
During the showdown, the game summary says the following (assuming no one mucks):
"PlayerX has an Ace high flush."
"PlayerY has an Ace high flush - Queen higher."
"PlayerZ has an Ace high flush - 6 lower."
Is this what you're thinking of Xianti?

On limit holdem I would play the nut flush agressively in this case, and pay off the once in a blue moon where the straight flush hits.
The only time I would be really concered with straight flush is 4 on the board (6,7,8,9) where a 10 or 5 will complete the straight flush
