Sportsbook is running a beta test of Kamikaze tournaments. Everybody all in pre flop. The wife has like a $25 roll and she wanted to try them. She played like 4 of them ( they ran some 20 person to start with, now its 30 and 60 person ) She like doubled her roll in 30 seconds. Then she kept playing and lost most of it. Then tonight they were back and she played 2 and got a first and a second. So went back up again. LOL

I saw tonight they have a scheduled guaranteed $1000 tourney for $11. Its pretty funny to watch them. I figured like the worst person would be taken out a hand at a time, but no. the whole thing usually only takes 1 hand, or 2 at the most. Very weird. They only have the S&G ones up from like 6 to 7 PM, then they disappear. The guaranteed one starts at 7:30 tonight. Anybody bored its worth a look.

Like a scratch lottery ticket, poker style. LOL

Just looked and they are back again right now. Its insane how quick they fill up, its just non-stop.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

That's gambling, not poker. Why not just put your money into the virtual slots? You're going to have the same odds.

Yeah, I took a look at this. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The player can't even choose which hands to go all in on, they are forced to go AI on every hand. Sportsbook is the winner here, it only lasts one minute and they get all the rake same as a tourney that lasts an hour. Are you sure it's your "wife" playing these?

don't play these.
The only good thing about them is generating a poker bankroll for gamblers - that poker players can then take at their leisure...

Yeah, I'm sure its her. Funny thing is I actually encourage her to play them. It's so much better then having her ask me if she should put 30 in with A-7o. An hour of that and I'm ready to punch her, swear to God. It's her damn roll. Thats part of the reason I left FT for Sportsbook, no player to player transfers.

Lol.

I saw these as Satellites on...somewhere. AP or Everest I guess. That wasnt so bad, dont think they were raked (i.e., if the entry for the tourney was $11 the satellite might be $1.10 for 10 players, so the rake for the tourney is covered in the sattellite). Its still just gambooling, but I could see people doing it.
Just playing to improve.

Not gambling if you think gambling is wagering money for entertainment purposes. It's gambling for some, but for others it's a source of income. So what you're really saying is "under my definition of gambling I include poker." That's fine by me.

If they're raking these then it shouldn't even be on their poker software. They have other casino games at Sportsbook, throw it on there. This sad excuse for poker gives the gamblers false hope that they are actually good at poker, only to lose it when they hit the ring game. Oh but wait, they rake that too! Sportsbook can bite me. I knew there was a good reason I don't play there much.

It doesn't really matter if you agree with the definition or not, but it is gambling regardless.

then you are wrong.

gambling is wagering money or an iten/whatever on an outcome of an event that is uncertain. You can gamble with the best of it (ie. poker if you are good) but you are still gambling.

stupidest idea ever. i havent done the math yet, but i cant imagine these ever being profitable since there is no skill allowed.

anyone that tries this is welcome at my tables.

for the $1 tourneys, 3 places pay. 1 = $14, 2 AND 3 = $8. i think the BI is $1.1o.

surely, if you place, and only win $8, you lose, but i havent taken the time to see if the $14 ever makes up for it. even if its breakeven (which would be smart for sportsbook), the rake would always win.

blackjack anyone? or, better yet, hardaways on the craps tables?
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

I'm gunna take a stab in the dark here, and guess that the EV of a $1+$0.1 tourney of this nature is -$0.1

Just feedin' the rake...

eh yeah I don't even know why I kept it in this forum. I guess that if I moved it to OPR, I wouldn't have to read it anymore?
