Pokerroomace's thread made thinking about a certain situation. Let's say I limp with JJ from EP and several people limp too. A dude from the blinds makes a raise, let's say 4-6xBB. Would a re-raise be appropriate in this situation? It certainly would chase the other limpers off from the pot if they don't have a PP.

If all of the limpers fold and the original raiser calls, I would isolate him and there's a very good chance I'm ahead here. If he re-raises I could put him on QQ+ and fold (or maybe even call in order to make a set if the odds are still favorable). If some of the limpers call I would still assume I'm ahead.

What do you think? Something wrong with my reasoning? Would a min re-raise be enough in this situation? I think it would do the thing and encourage QQ+ to re-raise so it would be easier to read.

1. Don't limp JJ from anywhere to start off with. Problem solved. JJ is the 4th strongest hand in poker. Raise it from all positions. I'm reraising with it as well.

2. Don't minraise. It's a good way to get pwnd. It often shows weakness, and it also often gives worse hands odds to call. Situations where you might want to use it come along rarely, and are probably going to be either because of a read or because of small effective stacks.

If you have someone acting after you who has a pfr of 25% or something you might want to limp JJ with intentions of limp/reraising it. Reraise strong though, as you probably have the best hand.

I think 4-betting (open raise and re-raise) JJ is hyper aggressive, certainly at full ring. I could see 3-betting sometimes vs. a loose raise, especially if you are in the blinds.

Limp-reraising I could see if you like to do this with other, better hands (AA/KK/AK). I suppose it depends on what you think of the raiser.

Some guy tried this exact play with me a few minutes ago and he lost a stack to my QQ.
