loyalty program that acts as a rakeback supplement. You earn medals that can be used to buy bonuses, plus get entry into a monthly freeroll with overlay from $25 to $90 depending on which ironman level you hit.
different from stars in that number of days played in a month and period of time in the scheme affect the $ return
It doesn't really provide much extra coin until you've been involved for a while. as an example, if you hit iron man in month one then you get an extra 100 medals, which is worth about sfa. After 27 months you get an extra 500 medals for reaching ironman in a month, which is worth slightly more. FTP historically have also given out 6-monthly bonuses based on number of months at each level (6 months at iron = $600 bonus). As an indication, the scheme has provided me with around $2.5k in medal bonuses, $2.1k in 6-monthly bonuses, and about $1k in freeroll cashes (i only end up playing about 1/3 of these though) over the last couple of years.
hit me up in irc if you want, i've got a spreadsheet sitting around somewhere which spits out additional rakeback equivalents based on stakes/days/hands/rake/etc...

ja, basically all it does is bump your rakeback % from 27% to 38%ish after you played there a while. That's about all there is to it

It's not meant to replace rakeback obv, just supplement it with a little something extra more than likely to compete with Stars' SN and SNE.

Does anyone know what happens if you hold Gold status for like 6 months then hit Ironman the 7th month? Would your seniority in the program carry over? What if you then move back down to Gold on the 8th?

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure it carries over no matter what as long as you make at least Bronze it keeps counting towards your months on the system. If you miss one month you're pretty much screwed tho unless you use medals to buy a day/month.
So like, you could be bronze for 14 months in a row, if you all of a sudden on the 15th month make Iron, it'll give you the medals for being 15 months of Iron.

what happens is that you are ironman during the 8th month, if you then move down to gold during the next month you are still deemed to have been in the ironman program for 9 months. Just so long as you reach one of the levels.
You can buy 'iron days' or 'iron months' with medals too, sometimes well worth it - e.g. if you are going to miss iron man by one day and have been running 27 months then it is well worth buying one iron day for 30 medals cos you receive 200 extra back for making iron man that month...
mods - this probably belongs in the online poker rooms forum

Cool, thanks Daven.
Looking at being Gold status, just starting up, do you recommend taking the freerolls or the extra medals?
edit: Also, does FT do Reload bonuses? I only deposited about 2/3 of my bankroll when I moved from Cereus in case there are any, but I haven't heard much about it.

Take the freerolls to start imo, but ONLY if you are absolutely sure you can play them. Otherwise, just take the medals. As far as I've ever seen, FTP has never had a reload bonus, but I've been receiving offers on my account there for $50 and $100 for random bonuses that don't require any deposit, so they DO have some sort of bonuses. Also they have Iron Man bonuses that cost medals to buy (you probably knew that) and I think they have midyear/end of the year bonuses for iron man.

Ok, cool - I think I'll take the freerolls for now. Do you know at what day/time they normally run at?

freerolls are definitely the way to go for silver/gold levels as so many players don't turn up - i've cashed without playing before in one of these...
2nd saturday of the month around 4pm est normally.

So I made Gold Ironman last month and opted in for the freerolls, as per your advice. How do I find the tournament? Will I be notified by email or something? Don't want to miss it! :P

So Ironman bumps your rakeback to about 38% if you run it consistently, that's interesting. Now if we could just get them to implement some cash bonuses for FTP's...
I'm wondering what level you'd have to be playing at to score enough pts to land iron man - I can play everyday, but only run about 500-600 hands/day. What level do you think I'd need to be at to generate enough pts - what is it 50/day I think? Think I can do that at 25NL or would I not be even close?

points are based on rake taken from the table. i'll check points/hand at different stakes/styles/games tomorrow sometime. 600 hands at full ring 25nlhe seems to give around 100pts (just checked larger sample, and yep, about 0.16 points/hand at 25nlhe FR is standard)
note that the extra medals you get won't result in much of a rakeback boost until you've been in the scheme for quite a while

Ahh, ok thx. That's exactly what I was wondering, so I could run silver and gold for a while at 25NL and eventually kick it up to 50NL and start hitting iron and it will be starting to pay off, cool.

I made Gold Ironman without too much effort at 25NL FR. The important thing seems to be to start up and hold up Ironman - at any level. Eventually when you play 50NL+ and hit Ironman you'll get a pretty decent amount of medals if you've held it up for a few months at previous levels.
Thanks Daven, realized after posting this that we were automatically registered.
