I guess the question is: Has anyone ever tried this?

I read an interesting post about making your own "Poker tourney".

Buy into a low level NL live ring game. say.25/.50, one full buy in. Set an alarm for 30 mins. Up Down or Sideways, once the alarm goes off, move up to the next level. In this case .50/1, start the alarm again. Trying to last/climb 5, 8 or even 10 levels. If you don't meet the minimum buy in requirements you cash out.

so say. Start at .25/.50, move to .50/1 then 1/2 then 2/4, then 3/6 then 4/8 5/10. If you last for 30 mins at 5/10 cash out and keep track of your score...

Why would this be successfull, or unsuccessfull?
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

sounds like a way to burn $50 unless you can easily afford it (in which case you should already be playing 200NL).
This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

Forcing yourself to feel the pressure of rising blinds when no one else is experiencing this, coupled with removing any chance for good reads on opponents, coupled with playing with increasingly better opponents with an increasingly small hammer to use to fight them...

Sounds -EV.
I run a training site...

Check out strategy videos at GrinderSchool.com, from $10 / month.

I turned $2.50 into $125 in Dwarfman's one night. At that point in time it represented like 20% of my roll

A $12.50 roll? Does that qualify?
