I minraise with a set sometimes to induce a reraise which I push over. I wouldn't get in the habit of it without reads.

I understand but im talking about "instant" minraises where they act in less then a second.

ya i've wondered about this before too. i've actually done it a few times vs. ppl who i've seen get pushed around easily after they cbet. you may be on to something.

I think that's fine. However, the instant check-minraise is another story.

I'm experimenting with coming back over the top when villains check-minraise my cbets. Too early to tell, but I seem to get alot of laydowns.
"Real" check-raises are scary as hell though.

I wonder how many ppl who do the insta-minraise will continue on the turn as a bluff.
What do you think about just calling the raise in position, and taking the pot if checked to on the turn?

What if your reraise is called and fourth street seems to have helped no-one?

I had a guy with position do this instant minraise to me three times in the period of an hour.
The scenario was always a HU flop, I'd cbet 3/4 pot and he'd instant minraise me. The first two times I reraised him standard and he folded, but the third time, I thought maybe he was trying to induce my raise.
Would you say he's just a donk with a minraise habit, or did I make the right move by not 3-betting again with air?

last night i got insta min raised twice:
1- he called my pfr, c/r insta on T T x drawy-flop, I 3bet he went all in. he had QQ, I had KT.
2- same deal except A A x flop and different villain. he showed 55, I had AT.
point is I think I'm gonna try and get reads before 3bet bluffing or anything from now on...

is this full ring or short handed?? i have noticed that paired boards are not respected in 6max.

it was 6max. that's a good point. ppl get fancy play syndrome a lot more in 6max.

i see it, too. however, i have noticed if i can develop a "read" on the player min-raising me, i can adjust accordingly...if not, i tend to give the "play" more respect. some guys use the min-raise knowing players "have read articles" and will automatically RR. that becomes a "value min-raise" if you ask me.
bottom line: you have to determine if this is somebody that simply does not know how much to bet, or if this is a "thinking" player that is using this play against you.

that could happen if someone is multitabling and a new table pops up right over the one they are on, so it becomes an instaminraise
