Ideas for session focus?

    Default Ideas for session focus?

So I’ve been trying to get out of my comfort zone a lot this month, with the intention of accelerating my understanding of the game and improving my in-game thought process by putting myself in some tough spots. Whilst this may not be immediately profitable, do you guys think this is a good idea? If so, do you have any ideas for sessions that I could incorporate?

Fwiw, I’m pretty passive by nature and at the tables, so some things I’ve been testing out (with mixed results) are:

    1) 3betting at 8-12% overall, rather than my usual 4-5%.....Early findings are that people respond very poorly to 3bets, but I find it very difficult to turn off the aggressive mindset when facing a 4bet and also post-flop

    2) Getting in a wider value range pre-flop in common aggro spots e.g. bvb.

    3) RFI of 60-80% on the button, rather than my standard 40%.....early findings are that nobody is really ramping up their re-stealing, but this may be a function of playing Zoom

So maybe I'm missing the question, but it sounds like you are doing a good job of attempting these things as it is? What would you like to improve on? How is focus an issue?

I'm looking for ideas to test out that I can potentially add to my game in the future I,e, anything where I can essentially avoid my usual passive auto-piloting through sessions would be ideal, even if the ideas aren't necessarily profitable. That may be iso'ing ATC on the CO and BTN, 3betting x%+ in the blinds versus steals, etc. Open to ideas if it will make be a better player in the long run by putting me in some tough spots.

I guess HU is always an option too.

Are you the type of player that auto pilots more the MORE tables you play (ie: you have to auto pilot becaus there is no time to think / be creative) or auto-pilot the less tables you play (because it's just calm and relaxing)?

I mean if you're looking for a way to get better that might not be profitable, then moving up and playing with better competition is probably a somewhat -EV way to improve?

Cant say about h, but that has crushed me. Moving to 100nl for better players and a more thinking play has tilted me like crazy. I gave up that ideea
I went back to 25nl and just 1 table giving me enough time to implement and try to lines w/ yhe grest opportunity of analizyng every hand in real time. Less money but i feel better about my game w/ every session
