So I have a major problem with bet sizing - usually too timid and I have been slowly realizing that I limp too much, let other people get into a hand and draw out, usually losing big hands.

One of my problems has always been my limp/raise ratio. Even at 5NL it is always an okay time to learn this stuff.

So I sat down at a table ths afternoon and every time I had a hand in position and that was playable, I raised. My stats for the session were 14/14. And it definitely paid off. What it gave me was a much easier time putting people on ranges and allowed me to read much better. And people were respecting my continuation bets even when I had total air. I felt like I really figured something out.

I took a hit against a total lagtard who sucked out two pair on the river when I put him all in but putting him all in was the right play.

Dude... there's nothing to take out of this hand, 'cept raising TT pre-flop is good -- and it worked, you narrowed the field to HU so +1

... then dude shorty basically shoves with crap and you got the money in good, but lost to his 3-outter...

nh, next....

This HH is unrelated to the point of this post but seems to have been caught up in the stream of consciousness.

Congrats.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

one thing I'd like to mention that I saw in a Biondino sticky recently is that at the micro levels there is no point having raising over 10% of the time pre flop. Essentially we are not good enough post flop so it becomes a leak as we end up overplaying marginal hands was his arguement, which i did. So keep up with the raising which is good and will improve your poker but don't worry too much about expanding your raising range to far before letting the rest of your game develop.

nh wp.

I think he just showed the HH to show that even though he lost a medium pot he got it in decently (I know it was near a flip) but he can now realize that people are calling preflop with crazy shit that will make his play very profitable. Good job ponyboy.

That was the point of posting the hand. Over time I have to realize that pushing in a situation like that is going to pay off more often than not, especially considering the read I had on villain, which turned out to be correct.
