I think you can vary between checking and betting.

Some people like to bet in this situation because a worse hand will always call.

if he sees 50% of flops then most of the time he isnt going to have anything on the flop. Chances are you arent getting paid here whatever you do.

Having said that this is one time id probably check the flop. If the turn brings a flush draw/straight draw or a high card then theres a chance hell find something to call with. . . but probably not.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

An over full is a hand I check now and then. There are quite a few overs than can help our loose friend on the turn.

If you have a tight image you have to check top boat heads up on a board like this. The deck is crippled.

This is one of those situations where you just have to give them a chance to hit a two outer. I have stacked people in this spot many many times when they would have doubtlessly folded their 22/33/55/66 if I would've bet the flop.

He puts you on AK most of the time. Think about it, bet the flop, check the turn.

if i've been betting preflop and then c-betting has been taking down pots consistently i'll hesitate momentarily and then throw out some random stupid low bet like 1.25 and against the right opponent they will often come over the top or at least call...which is better than nothing.

Lukie is on a distinguished road
I'm betting the flop nearly every time with any 2 cards given the preflop and flop action. And to the person that said the deck was crippled, it's really not. The other guy could still have an overpair, 9x, 4x, overcards (I've seen Ax make calls here in similar spots MANY times), 55-88 which probably aren't folding, maybe the same with 22/33, or he may play back at you with air since you should be betting here so frequently. Once in a while I''ll check here but I'm usually coming out with a standard 2/3-3/4 pot bet. REP THAT AK!

Betting here against a fish is a bad play imo. If he has a 4 you're stacking him regardless of if you bet the flop, and it's unlikely he has anything else to call with (unless he's fishy enough to call with small pockets, overs, or A-high, in which case I might be inclined to bet), so just give him a free card and hope he catches something. This will also tend to make him think that his A-high or low pocket might be good and call the turn where he might've folded the flop.

Against a good, aware player who you have some history with and should know you almost always c-bet heads up, well then you have to just go ahead and bet and hope he has something or decides to make a move.

I don't do this often and not sure if its a correct line but occationally if I'm getting no action and chasing people off their hands I will over bet the pot.

Figuring that if I'm going to chase away with a bet might as well make it worth my while if someone calls.

I stacked a guy the other day like that. I had a set and he had TPTK , I bet like 3x the pot, he thought for awhile then remin raised me, I pushed he called ...see ya later.

I usually do it on the turn though.

It also works if you do it a few times, people think your just buying the pot and will come over you, just make sure you got the nuts.
Why is it a penny for your thoughts but
you have to put your 2 cents in??

Somebody's making a penny!!

Against an aggressive, laggy, or otherwise good player, yes, you can rep random broadways here and get them to play back at you.

Against an unknown, I check here more often than not. You're not worried about them outdrawing you, so I think it's worth it to give them a free card which may improve their Ax/Kx hand--which they'll invariably proceed to overplay.

Sometimes you just can't get paid......like the time I flopped Quad Aces 5 way and noone called(and no I didn't bet the pot I bet like 3/5 trying to represent a nervous KK/QQ/JJ etc...).
