I did go broke, IMAGINE! Who ever told me I was under-rolled in the other thread, you were not kidding. I still have 1k left.. but compared to where I was 2 weeks ago.. ehhh

What's the best way to play Hold'em? Play for an hour.. take a couple off..? I find that I do good for the first bit.. then I just start donkey tilting.. like, A-Q.. all low cards on board.. keep betting with another guy.. I know I'm beat, he shows a pair.. lose 700..

How does one stop the inner gambling addict?
Bet the pot every time.

Stop playing and go read Harrington on Hold'em and both Super Systems.

That's what I did.

Or move yourself to low stakes where getting beaten doesn't matter until you prove to yourself you can win consistently.

AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LISTEN TO BANKROLL MANAGEMENT CONCEPTS ON THIS BOARD. Set limits and goals for yourself based on them.
^ Worst advice possible, don't listen ^

ehhh.. link me to the goals crap.

I am pretty good.. I know strength of my position, pretty good at watching other players, and make good calls. I usually don't go too far beyond even.. unless I'm hitting, then of course I'm making money.

It's just like after two or three hours, sometimes my brain goes in dumb mode. Like, FULL ON DONKEY TILT..
Bet the pot every time.

All the advice you got in the other thread still applies. Nobody is going to sympathize with your lost BR. You don't need links, they are in the other thread. GL. As for the lack of response, i will respond by saying "we already told you"

I doubt it... Two major factors in being good are consistency and discipline. You sound fairly short of either. Decide right now if you want to be a gambler or a poker player. You know what to do in either case.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

Never EVER believe you are good.
I don't really mean it that way, but chances are if your new your not good. It took me a year to become a winning player and it took me at least 2 to consider myself any good. But when you start believing everything bad is bad variance is when ur not getting any better.
Check out the new blog!!!

Leak number 1. Never ever tell yourself that you're good, that's when you stop questioning your plays and listening to feedback because you believe you're always right.

I remember seeing an interview on TV with Jennifer Harman after the WSOP where she told the interviewer that she had made a few bad plays that had put her out. If one of the best players in the world can admit she made mistakes, then all the rest of us can as well.

Otherwise, I agree with what the others said - play within your BR, post hands for review and if you feel yourself going on tilt then STOP PLAYING until you calm down. If you managed to get your BR up to $4,600 you're either very lucky or have some skills, if it's the latter you'll get it back.

In case it needs baldly stating - don't play above $50NL until you have over $2,000 in your roll. If you are playing SNGs, don't play above the $20s and MTTs, $10s. These are non-negotiable.

Man everybody think's they're god's gift to poker after winning one sng or having a winning session. Thruth of the matter is reality hits you hard. I have been playing a year and a half, been a winning player for over year at small stakes and am gradually moving up the stakes, and although I consider I have made alot of progression I am nowhere near what I would consider a really good poker player.

Out of curiosity, here's my record in terms of sessions up vs sessions down since PT started recording stats on this PC (about 11 months):

Played 721 sessions; won 420 times; lost 301 times (58.25%)

And this gives me an overall PTBB/100 of 8.2 so I'm doing pretty well.

Well sessions won or lost in tracker doesnt mean anything as you can stay on a table for one orbit, leave and voila youve recorded a loss of a SB and BB for one session.

Thus said, I record all my sessions in an excel spreadsheat and use that to compare and view my pogression.

sessions being:
-date and time of starting session.
-duration
-level
-#hands
-#tables
-Return$, return BB
-ReturnBB/100
-win rate
-total returns.

I think that the problem you may be faced with is lack of patience.
A wise man once told me... "a horse that shits fast, don't shit long." With that in mind maybe you should concentrate on longevity. I've had the feeling, many times, that I was running bad or whatever you want to call it. I have since realized that, good cards or bad cards, there is nowhere else I'd rather be than at the poker table. If I become restless, or impatient for whatever reason, it's time to take a break and regroup.
If this doesn't work, I strongly recommend Adderall![/quote]

When I think I'm getting good, I'll look up BigJoe2003 on PS and watch for awhile.. it's really kinda humbling, watching someone play 10 SnG's at the same time and doing well at it.
