I cringe when i look at this hand, i should have been toast. I didn't think someone would have 45 let alone raise with it. At first i thought we all MUST have limped in the pot, fair enough that would account for such a weak hand, but when i reviewed the hand i saw that he raised! i called of course.

What would you guys have done?

cheers.

Would have done the same. And I would have done a little dance when all the money got in.

Not very often have I seen players raising with 45 at the penny tables, especially UTG. But that's mostly because they are "limp happy" and surprisingly nitty. But then again, raising 45 from UTG is so -EV hence he deserves to get sucked out on.

Regardless, I would RARELY fold a set at $2NL.

Not only what mezza said, but you can't possibly put your opp on a tight enough range on the flop that 45 is a large portion of it when he's also a player that would raise 45 from EP.

ok.

What i had sort of concluded was: serves him right for raising 45 in that spot. That's damn loose.

cheers

Flop 4bet equates to $1.70 to win a pot of $5 (app)

Pokerstove gives ur pot equity at just under 35% which makes this not even a suckout.

My maths could well be off as Ive had a bucketload of beers tonight but eitherway...

Hmm, i'm not familiar with that pot equity calculation. Could someone explain?

As far is my knowledge goes, i pokerstoved those hands and i was a massive underdog until the river.

I mean my odds of hitting, i had a few outs to the full house i guess. But my pot odds seem low... and umm, implied odds..

Sorry if i'm a bit inexperienced here.

You managed to get all your money in with top set - fist pump time. There is only one hand that beats us - which as you've said is pretty damn unlikely - not to mention the fact that even if that is the hand we're up against, we still have 35% equity

i completely disagree. my hand hits the "call all in" button so fast that i actually knock my drink over and fall out of my chair, all the while being so ecstatic that i dont actually care that my computer might now have a sticky keyboard

This thread is hilarious. Where the hell is it going?

That pic is probably Mr. Bollocks' girlfriend. Someone should ask him if HE'S 'all-in'

The more I think about it the more I like both cowboyardee's line and JKDS's. cowboyardee's raise until you are all in than happy dance is a classic. While JKDS's line of raise till your finger falls off and you spill your drink is super new and fresh. I guess I do 30/70 JKDS's line and cowboyardee's.

Good job! Pocket Aces to Pocket Broadways wouldn't have laid down against an 'all-in' I think. Those were the only hands you were trying to protect yourself against with that all-in move, while knowing you beat all the other hands (except that straight, which most of us would have least considered).

The thing that changes your judgment from good to poor / poor to good is the villain's raise preflop. He got punished by the poker gods from trying to play tricky by raising 45 from UTG. That was the supidest move he could have done and damn right he should be punished. If he had made the hand it was YOU that got sucked out on. You won hands down in every aspect.

If the hand played out differently though, and he was the button and you were UTG, then an all-in would be a bad move because of your position is how I feel, since his range would have vastly increased.

lol... poker gods punishing him...heheee. True though.

THOU SHALT NOT RAISE WITH LOW SUITED CONNECTORS UTG

and lo, he raisedeth with 45 suited under the gun and the lord said:

AS THE COCK CROWS THOU SHALT STACK OFF AGAINST A SET AND THY ODDS SHALL BE GREAT. BUT AS THE RIVER HITS, THOU SHALT DIE UPON A FULL HOUSE AND LOSE A BUY-IN.

yeah been learning about opening ranges and to fear the worser hands when someone is opening in late. Worse meaning trickier.
