... and seeing as I'm alone in the house at the moment, you guys are going to get the full blow by blow account.
I've just won a tournament. It's not my first (actually it's my third) and it's only for $20 ... but it was my best win yet. Mainly because of what I've learned on here.
It was a Sit and Go, winner takes all tournament. I was down to the last couple of bucks on my payroll and had no decent hands all night. I somehow managed to get down to the last two though.
Therefore I was heavily outstacked by about 12,000 chips to 2,000. I managed to figure out that when he simply called my bets or only raised a little, he didn't really much of a hand so I was able to pick up the antes a few times.
The key hand came when I'd managed to claw myself up to about 4,000 chips. I was holding 10d Jd and a 8c 3s 9d on the board. My opponent went all in and I sat there and worked out the odds of me drawing another diamond, a 7 or a Q. Then I figured out the pot odds and called him. The very next card came up a 7. I doubled up and he went totally on tilt.
A few hands later he threw his last 2,000 chips into the middle with only a Q 7 off-suit and I called him with A-5 suited and picked up my $20.
That's made my evening - cheers for the good advice lads. I'm off for a beer!

Unless there's a typo, a diamond won't help you, you'd need two. And these common draws should just be memorized.. 2sided straight draw 32%, flush draw 36%, flush draw+2sided straight draw 56% etc.
Btw nice how you managed to hang in there.. I still remember how I was once down to $10, and then I recovered and proceeded to turn that $10 into $1700 or so.. so keep it up

After all that, I stick a typo in there
Yeah, there were two diamonds on the board which gave me a fair few outs, but it was still nice to be able to sit there and calculate that I was getting value on my call.
