I was playing NL $25 and this guy started talkin shit big time. I wanted to take away all of his $ so he would shut up. Well, he was folding most of his hands and I got dealt AK suited UTG. I raised it to $2 and I have 3 callers. The flop was J, blank, 10. I checked, and the guy behind me checked. The guy who wouldnt shut up was the last to act and he raised it to $10. I quickly put him on a set. (2 pair wasnt even a question) I was pretty sure that he had pocket pair higher than Jacks. But.....man, he was talkin so much shit. A Queen would give me a straight, 2 running clubs would give me a flush.I wanted shut him up. So I pushed him all in ($22 ish) The guy after me folded and the dude called me instantly. He had pocket aces. I didnt hit my flush nor straight. After that hand, he started talkin even more shit.

Going all in with bad odds against him is not a good way to get him to shut up. Even if you beat him, he'll just say you got really lucky, and he'd be right! Beat him by outplaying him, not by getting lucky.
BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live

No, you arent going to be able to bluff at 25 NL. Dont even try, itll just lose you money. You have to play straight poker and the only way to take his money is to have a better hand when he has a good one. So in short, if hes a decent player, its going to very difficult. I just wouldnt let it bother you, concentrate on just making money and increasing your 'roll.

These posts belong to beginners circle IMO. Questions about outplaying can be asked there.

yeah, man. It sounded like his "trash talking" had exactly the desired effect: It tilted you good, and made you throw away your money for an outside chance to destack him. Terrible play. Just get your money in when you are ahead of him, then you can have the last laugh, instead of him.

i get into your position alot .. some loud mouth hot shot at the table is being more obnoxious then mike the mouth ...

learn to control your temper .. seriously, wait for the right spot to bust someone, it will come if your patient... it should be worthy to also note, if you play in a marginal situation for all your chips and lose, your giving him more ammunition to continue talking smack. catch a set to his unimproved AA/KK and bust him and then talk smack back to him

This guy sounds good. I bet he gets great action too. You should mute him.

Personally, I don't like the style. Especially because I play live games where you don't see it that often.

Easy answer: Turn off the chat. You're playing for $$$ not ego. I normally don't worry about it but if somebody is annoying enough, I just turn 'em off since I genearally don't use trash talking to my advantage. That's the great thing about playing online vs. live - if you don't want to listen you don't have to.
