Looking for some suggestions from real plaers, I work for an Airline and I also Bounce at the local bar on my off days. Anyway at my partime gig i have been hired to run Hold'em Tournies over the winter. the catch is that gambling here in Alaska is not legal. In order to get arround this i have set it up to be In League format where my players will play for finishes.... the top 5 players in each tourney will recieve points which will be tracked by me, at the end of a season, (about 4 months, 2 opportunities a week to play) the top 20 players will be invited back to play in a Final
where the prizing will be substantial... provided by the purveyors of our product at the bar.... i am looking for any and all ideas that will help me keep the game exciting for players.
In order for the game to be legal there is no buy in to play, all players will start with the same amount of chips, im thinking 2000 each
blinds will begin at 50/100 and will go up every 15 min.
Any input would be great, as I am really looking to run an exciting game where atmosphere and exciment bring back my clientelle. The Venue will provide all the tables chips and equipment to me and will alllow me to use the pa system to function as the TD and the MC.
If this is the wrong place for this thread I apologize
thanks everyone for taking the time to give me some input.

I played in a very similiar tourney last year at one of the local bars. One thing you could consider doing is having little gifts to get out each tourney, such as a $10 gift certificate to the bar for first place etc. While poker is fun most of the time, having a small prize might make players play more like something is on the line, and if they play good they will be rewarded in a short time, not months down the road. And our "final event" was at the end of every month instead of 4, but no big deal.
the starting blinds might be a little high. Although I'm not familiar with live play, but you don't get too many hands in 15 minutes and the players are already starting with only 20bb. I'm assuming the next bling increase is either 75/150 or 100/200 and if that's the case then alot of the players will already be on a somewhat short stack after only seeing maybe 20 or so hands. Just something to consider.

i strongly recommend either:
a) decrease the blind amounts ie. start at 10/20 or 25/50
b) increase stack sizes
the idea is to give players more options, which makes it more fun.
