I just start playing online about 2 months ago. i have play around 4K hands and have pretty much broke even (lost a little). I have been using the free trial of poker tracker and after looking over my win/lose by position I have lost most of my money in the small blind. Is this usual or am i playing to many marginal hands out of position. Also Is raising preflop with pairs or AK AQ and such a good idea i seem to get called by someone with 2 4 and they hit straights and flushes left and right. am I not raising enough here? Sorry for the rant thanks

StarGrinder is infamous around these parts
Over the long-term you will lose money in the blinds. You're in terrible position post-flop so don't play too many speculative hands without a family pot.

About how to play hands, you'll need to post specific examples to learn anything. There's no instruction manual on how to play a hand. Every situation is different, and without the actual HH and reads, you're going to get a lot of "it depends"... because well, it does. Working on ranges is another story.

You probably need to learn about pot odds, implied odds, preflop ranges, you know... the basics. Start with the Beginner's Digest at the top of this forum. There's a ton of great stuff in there. Good luck.

Welcome to FTR. Jump in and learn the game my friend.

Even the best of players loose most in the blinds it's just part of the game. The key is to learn to minimize those losses and make up even more. You'll find a wealth of information here you just have to be willing to learn and Oh have a very thick skin. At times it may seem harsh but believe me when I say with the correct attitude everybody here will want you to succeed. Oh and without the correct attitude we'll all injoy watching you sink and taking your moneyz!
"You start the game with a full pot o’ luck and an empty pot o’ experience...
The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck."

raising with pairs or ak aq preflop really depends on the situation i.e. who you're raising/isolating, your table position, chipstacks, and etc.
