Post subject: How strong of a hand does check-calling represent?

When a hand is heads up, I absolutely HATE when the "villian" checks it to me, I raise, 50-75% of the pot, and he calls.
Turn comes, same thing happens.
River comes, same thing happens, even if I bet higher.
Sometimes they have shit, sometimes they have a monster that they slow play. Does check-calling ever really represent the strength of somebody's hand? Argh I just hate going up against it.

texture makes a huge differnece.
On a drawless board, a check call is different from a check call on a 2 suited board.

It depends on your opponent.
If they're calling too much, here is a sure-fire way to play better if you're a typical weak player:
Bluff less and bet like 1.5x what you normallly would. Maybe even more. Don't price him into calls, price him out of calls, bet anyway and watch him still call.

Something I've been noticing lately about the PP tables.
When there is say, $0.75 in the pot, 3 players, and it is checked around to me. I can't get players to stay for the life of me. Even if I have jack, a $0.50 bet usually knocks them out, and sometimes a $0.25 bet. Shouldn't they realize, "Hey, maybe this guy is bluffing every now and then?"
Sure it's nice to win small pot after small pot, but it gets frustrating. Those big pots just don't come around often enough.

There is a foolproof way to win big pots in NLHE. Find someone who has the nuts and suck out on them!
I just settle for making money and cope with all of the little pots I pick up...

Learn to adjust to your opponents. Uber weak-tights just need to be exploited in a different way. They fold too much. Pick up small pot after small pot when they are involved and avoid big confrontations without a huge hand.

This is what I have just started doing. After winning huge pots, but shortly thereafter losing them right back, going through huge swings, going through even bigger swings in tourneys, and all in all donating a large sum of money to PartyPoker, I realized that in order to make money, I need to just take what I can a little bit at a time. The big pots are like "bonuses" but if you just keep at it, solid steady poker not "gambling" when it's not necessary, I'll start consistently making money.

value bet if you think you have the best hand, but fold when you get raised on the river, this is usually never a bluff
