do you guys normally check or bet when you flop it?
I usually just check and hope for somebody else to bet and I just call the other way and check-raise at the end. (for limit games)
For NL, I would probably check after the flop but depending on the situation I would probably try to jam the pot if there is a straight or flush possiblitiy.

I bet about pot sized or raise if acting later. Its the best way of getting $$ in the pot and too often I have been sucked out on by draws. A set is a good hand but not a GREAT hand that i'd feel comefortable slowplaying! in my opinion.

if there arnt draws on the board,checks are fine.. especailly top set.

slowplaying a strong hand at a low limit table is often a recipe for disaster. these are the same tables where you can't chase fish off their gutshot draws no matter how much you bet. they just call, call, call. so exploit this weakness and bet or check-raise the shit out of your good hands.
give free cards if you want, but don't come whining back here about how some schmuck backed into a runner-runner boat or whatever.
also, put some thought into your opponents' betting patterns, the number of opponents, your relative position, their stack sizes, your stack size, your table image, the coordination/raggedness of the board, the high card on the board, etc. there is really no "standard play" when flopping a set. playing AA in EP on a flop of Ad 5c 9s is totally different than playing 33 on the button with a flop of Qs 3c 4c.

chez said it all. its very much a situational decision when u flop a set.
Generally if there isnt a flopped draw, i try to initiate some action where people will want to call to see another card. eg a minumum bet, you can even check it and let people see another card as pretty much anything they have is only likely to improve them to second best hand behind yours. But, the turn is going to bring the draw so bet it hard then. Obviously, if the flop brings flush/straight draws and other stuff then bet the pot. And if scare cards dont appear keep pot betting. tp/tk is likely to go all the way with you if no-one else does.
If its a raised pot then call any flop bets unless the draw is on when you might reraise. But again hit the turn very hard when draws appear.

How I play sets depends on what the other players in the hand are likely to have.
For example, yesterday I played in a game where this guy made a fairly significant preflop raise in early position, so at once I put him on A-A, K-K, Q-Q or A-K, and I called in the big blind with 10-10. The flop came K, 10 high with two diamonds and I bet into him, expecting him to raise big with A-A and A-K, make a smaller raise or just call with K-K and call or fold with Q-Q. He made a subsantial raise, so I then put him on A-K or A-A, leaning more towards A-K since A-K is dealt more frequently than A-A, and I called. The turn was an A, and I was somewhat worried about A-A, but decided I was going to pay this hand off because A-K was more likely. I checked, he made a large bet, I raised the minimum, and he called. The river was a blank, I went all-in, and he called with A-K.
But, the idea was I decided to play my set fast by betting right into this guy because, based on my assessment of what I thought he probably had, I expected to get raised. If I'd made the standard check-raise, I may have slowed him down by announcing my hand, and not won much more from him if he hadn't improved.
