I've just been asked a question to which I've seen no real answer. Someone wants to know how much money I stand to make playing poker if I truly apply myself, become one of the better online players and actually make a respectable profit at the higher stakes. And how much including rakeback?
I didn't have an actual answer. I just said "probably around a thousand a month if I played a whole lot of hands and I was really, really, really good."
So, how much can one expect to make at the various stakes, playing, say, 50k hands a month? I've played about half that so far but I didn't play the first few days of the month.
This in regards to NL cash games. Would the answer be different for FL and SNG games? Six max vs. FR cash, even?

Your guess is peanuts compared to the real answer. You would probably crap your pants if you saw what a good month is for some of the best players on this site.
You want to stick with cash games, and whether fr or 6max depends somewhat on your playing style.

One of the better players making respectable profit != the best online NL player in the world...
We have guys on FTR who can make 100k+ in good months. I think Nuts made 240k in Feb and 40k in March from memory?

$1k per month? Seriously? Wow, you like to set really attainable goals.

^^^ Just as one reference. And there are a fair amount of people who make more than that.

1k/ month is about what I make at about 25k hands average as a marginal winner @ 50NL.
And I don't think of myself as a terribly good player. I might have a little above average tilt control and a little above average understanding of the game for the stakes.
At least 3 people who have posted in this thread make more than that, but are too humble to brag.

20k-30k months w/ rakeback is pretty common for a lot of players on here. The sky's the limit if you put in the work. And it is work.
Even I made $220 last month playing 20kish hands of 2NL or just over 1 hr per day

There's some steps between WANTING to win 1k a month and actually doing it. And there are down months, too. Good luck.
