How many hands do people play per hour? I play 2 tables at a time and each table at about 100 hands/hr.
And I hear people talking about playing 10K or 20K hands, how is that possible?
Do people just play a ton of tables at a time or just play for maybe 10 hrs a day???

I can't do it, but there's lots of people who play 16 tables.

I'm only 4 tabling and PT shows me about 200-250 tables per hour. (And that's usually with 2 tables open a while before opening more).

I do 2-3 hour sessions, so yeah, takes a long time to get that hand count up.

Don't shoot for an astronomical hands per hour. It'll stunt your growth. I usually play 6 tables at 60+ hands each which would be minimum 360 hands/hour. But what's optimal for me may not be to you and may boring for someone like Spoon... who probably grinds 12-16+ tables normally, making us all look like slackers.

The first five years for a poker player

1) learn how to play poker

2) become half-way decent at poker

3) become decent at poker

4) become reasonable at poker

5) try to find out how to get the most hands in at the highest stakes while still putting up a respectable win rate

you're trying to boost up to that fifth step, when really you're prolly pretty far from it.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST HAVE SOME FUN PLAYING A VIDEO GAME THAT JUST HAPPENS TO MAKE YOU A FEW BUCKS!!!! before you start stressin' over hand volume

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

oooo, the point wasn't i wanna 16-table or anything, i was just wondering how people were getting soo many hands in.
Every post I read, people go i played 10k hands and then blah blah blah, and i've been playing everyday for about a week and i'm getting in a lil under 2000 hands, just thought maybe there was a trick or something to people getting in soo many hands.

It depends the amount of Tables and the Mood I'm in.

200 min
Over 400 max

The point is you should play what's comfortable for you.
If you want to play more hands then you need to push yourself a bit till it becomes normal and then push again till you are at the level you want to be at.

Do you play for profit or pleasure.
Or may it be the pleasure of profit.

I love the line, and I play for pleasure and want to move up to profit. Its why i'm wondering about multitable. I stayed away from it before because it took a lot of the fun out of playing, and it was more mechanical, less reads, etc. But from what i read here, multitable is definitely the way to go if i wanna be making a profit.
