Playing a 10+1 SNG at PS the other day, and I was getting killed. I could not catch a good hand, and no matter what I had, the flop hated me.

Finally, down to 6 players (started with 18) I get a hand dealt on the button.

Blinds 100/200
Vasumi
stack - 1600

UTG
Stack - 4000
bets 800

I call

BB calls
Stack -5000

Flop

BB checks, UTG bets 200, I call, BB calls

Turn

BB checks, UTG checks, I go all in, BB calls, UTG folds

River

BB has

I was so greedy. I figured this one hand would put me back in the game, and I tried to slowplay just to squeeze out every chip. From the way they had been playing, I know they would have folded to an all in after the flop.

The sad part for me is that I know this was my fault. I cannot even call it a bad beat.

In a tourny, it is better to win a small pot, then to lose a big one. And this was not even a small pot, It would have doubled me up.

Risk Vs Reward, I slow play less in SnGs as once those chips are gone you are out (Pretty Obvious)

If you are going to slow play you have to be prepared to fold the big hands.

I one time folded AA when it was a winner. I was already pissed about bad beats before, and then this happened.

I preflop raise and get called by the big stack who was on the BB.

Flop comes something like:

He bets, I raise, he reraises. I call.

Turn is a rag. He bets, I call.

River is

He puts me all in. I'm sure he must have a T or a J, and so I type "Man, I can't even win with pocket aces." and fold.

The other guy types "Sure you can." and turns up Ace-rag. The level of tilt I then reached has never been exceeded in all of history.

Was a perfect time to bluff, would have been a brave call. Did you pay him off on his next big hand when you clashed?

Fnord those boards seem to come out everytime I have AA, I'll check call these down occasionally though.

Haha, yeah, I would've called that one, just because the bluffer in that case was on the button. Most likely guy to bet without a heart ... but then again, you'd think that SOMEONE would have a heart and call.

I feel for ya man that sucks.

The flip side of it though is when you haven't been dealt a hand all night and then finally find your Pocket Rockets AA.

You make a moderate preflop raise and everybody folds faster than you can put your chips in the pot.

You end up winning a piddly pot and get dealt 7 3 offsuit for the rest of the night.

Yes the table was that tight. Also, I thought that if I limped and they caught something they would bet to me. Remember, I posted this as an example of being a greedy idiot. This is not an example of playing good poker.

that sucks man it happens to me somtimes too slow playing. If i have a set and I see like 2 potential cards for a flush like 2 clubs and 1 spade and I have a set I'll just push all in and save me the heart break of losing to a flush or st8. You might get a fold you might not.. I've done this a couple of times and it makes them think and put THEM on the card not you.. but again my theory isn't always perfect but shit its better than slow playing thinking you got him but to end up having the river screw you

I could not agree more! If they call my all-in and don't hit their draw, all the better for me. If they hit it, well then I know that 2 out of every 3 times I get called in that situation I'm most likely gonna take the pot.
