How to improve a boring game

I've played holdem, limit and NL, for years and foud it to be a very broing game. Its about 80% luck and about 20% skill. Dont believe me? then why are different players at the final table of the WSOP every year??? how does some idiot like Chris Money maker, who only recently started playing, and no one ever heard of before win the biggest tournament of them all? And did he rpeat next year?

Every time I've seen some one with aces they always lose. the biggest problem is the river. too often someone gets luck on the river.

Anyways, this is the way to improve the game....Each player gets 3 hole cards instead of 2....the flop is the same...there is no turn....then the river card and the showdown.

Try this variation at home. The skill factor will go up. The luck factyor will go down. The getting lucky on the river problem will diminish. With 3 hole cards the game will be more interesting and complex. Try it and see what you think.

So basically you want to widen someone's range BUT limit someone's chances to improve their hand. I think this could work. Don't tell the major pokersites b/c they may steal this from you!! They are already rigged so I am sure they can steal ideas and copyright infringe anything the would like to.

You have just (almost) described crazy pineapple. In that game you start with three hole cards and discard one on the flop. I dont mind having a relativly large element of luck in my poker games. It keeps the fish comming back for more. If you win every time then they bust every time and dont come back. I think youre talking to the wrong people if you are going to come here and tell us how boring NLHE is and how theres hardly any skill involved.

The spam part is that he is advocating poker is boring and 80% luck.

if the luckers always catch their miracles on the river, why dont u deal a turn and therefore no river in your game?

Add some dice, if it's excitement your after. Basing on the fact that you think it's 80% luck and that's why it's boring, why isn't vegas full of chess players whooping it up. that's a 100% skill game. I know all the craps, roullette and BJ players are all bored, their game is 95%+ luck.

I was a at a casino in Calgary once playing Pineapple like this. But they also opened up another table with a variation of Pineapple where you decide on the river which hole card to toss. I thought the latter was called Crazy Pineapple but I must be wrong.

In crazy pineapple you discard after all the flop betting is done.

Shanghai is cool... take hold'em, only the flop is two cards and the turn is two cards. The river is still one, so it's still a 7-stud game, just that the flop induces less action from draws, and generally draws are drawing to one card.

It's interesting how changing a few little pieces of the game can change the action so much.

There are 4 cards on the board. Whether you call the last card the turn or the river is irrelevent.

The game I described is NOT pineapple. You do NOT discard any of your hole cards. Its the same thing as holdem, except there is one extra card in the hole and one less card on the board.

I am not proposing replacing original holdem. I am suggesting adding this variation so that skilled players will have more of an advantage over idiots who are calling with next to nothing and then get lucky on the river.

The more luck you take away from the game the less fish there will be. You probably end up making less money. Luck is the reason people who suck keep on playing.

I think you underestimate the skill edge in NL holdem.

LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

i was in australia last month and they play something called manila which is essentially holdem with three hole cards and no discard. you have to use two hole cards, like in omaha.

Have you perhaps considered you don't have enough skill? A truly skillful player likes it when someone calls and they shouldn't! More money next time.
