Jason is an unknown quantity at this point
In short, most players shouldn't play that many tables. I personally think 4 to 6 is the maximum that most players can handle and continue to play real poker. After that, you start to turn into a robot, which is generally bad, but especially bad when you're trying to learn the game. Just play with 2 tables and slowly add a 3rd one whenever you're ready and try to maintain the same level of skill and proficiency.

most if not all massive multiplayers will use a program that give simple stats, so their reads are stat-based and not "how I've seen this guy play" based.
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

I can multitable FR 6-10 tables of cash games at 25nl. Its not that hard once you get the hang of it. It does come in handy to have a HU display to assist you. Also auto hot keys help a ton to standardize your betting and reduce your clicking on the bet bar.

Jason makes a good point that playing less tables means you start to play more real poker but I'd argue that playing more tables allows you to play more tight because you are always in the action.

Once you get a handle of your style of play. situations become automatic, for example you already know to fold 72 off in almost every position. Betting patterns become obvious, thus making your decisions fairly easy.

The more you do it the better you get.. I feel relatively comfortable with 12-16 FR tables. And I guarentee you I am not just playing like a bot, using only stats.. I also take notes on hands I've seen, and general notes on players. I regularly check hand histories while playing, and note/mark those as well. Obviously I would play better using less tables, but just because you are playing multiple tables does not mean you can't pick up meaningful reads, and are only playing stat-based poker.

I prefer 6 tables of 6m over 12-16 of FR. But when playing 6 tables, I find a bit of dead time, which I obviously try to plug in unprofitable ways, such as browsing the forums. As of late, I've started playing poker vids on my other monitor while playing, so maybe I can learn, and also get into a more poker mindset. Obv I want to pwn when I see Krantz, Phil Galfond, and others, soul reading feesh.

false, unless you 40 table you should at least note the way the guy plays vs. you particularly

Try this exercise: look at another hand where you're not involved and come up with ranges for your opponents

if they show down take a note whether they played their hand the way you expected

I find 3-4 tables of 6-max is enough for me. With 3 I can comfortably make notes, think about decisions, watch hands I'm not involved in, etc. If I go to 4 then I'm starting to get rushed, I miss things and I sometimes time out (nothing worse than doing that with AA preflop ...).

I don't know how people do 6 or more tables of 6-max.

I can do the same thing with 6 tables, but I'm most comfortable with 5

this is because I can time down a little on another table while folding hands/opening hands when I know what to do already, but I have the 15 seconds or w/e and I'm not in a rush yet to act

I'm not sure how many of the best players ever do/did more than 4 6m tables. I think every guide I've read says 4 is the most playable while still being able to improve. I'm sure everyones different however... You can obviously make money 24 tabling 6m, people do it....... for whatever reason.

Answer to OP: If you have to ask, don't worry about yet if/when you want to you'll figure it out.

I usually play 2-3 tables at once, any more than that for me gets to be to much. But I don't have the time to play more than 2-3 times a week either.

try still playing one and watching another as a half way house to playing two. It will get you used to watching and getting reads on other players at the next table before you have money on it.

i think its way better to play multiple tables at once due to the fact that u have to make a quicker decision and keeps u playing honest with only good cards.

have a good one ftn- ITSMETLEW

Practice, practice, practice.

Multitabling is the way to go. Reduces overthinking myself into trouble. Most of the time your first decision is your best decision.

I worked my up 20, but now I usually settle in at the 6-9 range...more comfortable...enough action to keep me awake and not so much to leave me feeling frantic.

A cheap way to practice more tables is to add a play money table.

I can only do 4 at a time just minimize the tables to there smallest size and have 1 tournament in every corner. Just play your hands, its hard to watch and know how the players play for me when i do this thoe

Yeah i agree with 3. I can concentrate and make notes of other players but more than that it gets a little confusing
